Weight 122.6, calories 697. Back to working on de-carbing again... It still amazes me how strong the craving for simple carbs is after a period of indulgence. The good thing is that I know that after a couple of days that call will get much weaker (as long as I don't do the same, LOL).

DH mostly slept yesterday. He had cereal at 10, then went back to bed until 1 or so. I made him a sandwich, then he slept on the couch with the dog until late afternoon. He did take the dog for a couple of walks late, but was in bed by 7.

We were originally going to go see the Christmas lights at the Ford-Edison Estate last night with friends but I had cancelled because of DH's "moods" over the weekend. SIL really wanted to go which is why we made plans in the first place and could have gone with our friends but wouldn't go because we didn't. So I'm actually looking forward to her leaving this weekend because she won't do anything by herself. Between dealing with DH and her ever presence, I don't have any quality time on my own. I don't like to be constantly lonely, but I also like to do some things independently. I can't go run an errand alone as she always wants to "ride along". But she won't do an errand for herself alone either -- she waits to tack it on to mine. She won't go to the pool alone. If I get ready and go when she doesn't realize that I am, she suddenly hurries up to change and come with me. When I leave the pool, even if she is busy reading, etc, she has to leave with me. Feast or famine for company areound here!

Anyway, the other half of my appliances gets installed today (dishwasher and microwave) and the electrician is coming to put an outside electrical box in. I have a couple of projects I may start as it will likely be too cool for the next few days to go to the pool. I am going to put a nautical chart of the nearby harbor under the glass on our coffee table, and I am going to frame the medicine cabinet mirrors in my bath. I also have some chalkboard painting to do and cork to be installed on a strange cabinet wall in my kitchen to make it look like it has a purpose.

Have a thoughtful Tuesday!

Liz, Thank you so much for the sand pictures. What a delight!!!! Love love the abstracted bust. Hopefully all that sleep yesterday has given DH a needed "re-set", and moods will level off. Fingers crossed for you. Carry on with the home improvements; I bet everything will look so nice if your past results are any indication.

My adventures for the day include shopping walkies. I'm going to stop by a teacher turned entrepreneur's new shop- missed her grand opening two weeks ago. Then to the grocery store for 2% milk- tried my yogurt with skim, but the test with the 2% seems to work and will make a full batch. Yesterday (everything takes 10 x times what it normally takes to do anything! Slow but steady will be my mantra for a while) I made hummus and the tummy test indicates it is good to go. First big calorie item added to diet- yes!

Any energy left over goes to slowly bringing down this and that favorite Christmas decoration. My Christmas decorations have been beckoning to come out of storage. (Inanimate objects talk and actually hold conversations with us around here. Kurt will occasionally use them as vocal advocates when there is something he especially wants to do or not do.

Time to be off. I hear DH and as sundry other "things" bidding I "get a move on"

Enjoy you day, folks. It's all good.

It's funny, but I found that cottage cheese is best made with skim milk but yogurt is best with 2% or whole milk.

Waited on security company this morning. Glad to have that sorted out. I've been extra paranoid since DH has been gone and a baby in another room.

Finally tonight...turkey soup. Made the stock in the crockpot last night. I think, oddly, the smell of soup actually disrupted my sleep!

Not much else going on today. I keep falling asleep early, so my routine is really one of picking Becca up, playing with her for an hour, feed, bedtime routine, and then dozing off myself

Greetings Magnificent Ones

153.5 today. No point in whining. There it is.

I got a boneless turkey breast half (slightly less than three pounds) and cooked it. It was great. And the best part is tonights dinner is already made. I used that cooking method where you heat the oven up to 450, shove the turkey in and then reduce the heat to 325. Seals in juices.

Liz thanks for showing all the sand sculptures. I like the big giant head the best. We have such a contest here too in August but yours outdoes it. I am glad your DH got a lot of sleep which may make him less cranky. It must be hard to have two people around that are so needy. I wonder why your SIL can't do anything alone. So odd. Love hearing about your decorating. That wicker furniture was a great find. Very beachy (autocorrect says peachy).

We've been watching the last season of House of Cards - the one minus Kevin Spacey. It really messes with you - trying to figure out who is up to what and who killed who.

Our rain is back and I think today will be Scrabble by the wood stove. DH is home from jury duty. The case pled out or rescheduled or something. Around here one can expect a jury summons once a year as they have a hard time getting people to show and those that do have a zillion excuses.

Bonnie150 so glad to hear you are up and about and puttering around. And glad hummus is agreeing with you. A wonderful food. Eat some for me!

I did a silly thing yesterday - a car was coming up fast on the freeway entry ramp so I slowed so it could merge. The person started waving at me to go ahead in a way that I found annoying. So I absolutely FLOORED my car and blasted ahead of it. My car is a Chevy Bolt - all electric - and it has astonishing acceleration power - way more than a gas powered engine. Anyway I posted it on the Chevy Bolt Facebook Owners page and everyone else posted how they too like to smoke people at traffic lights and how this one guy lives near a Porche dealership and blasts past the $100k cars!

Have a good day all. Time for more coffee. Don't forget to listen to Aretha. Diane S

Liz, I'm so sorry DH and you are struggling. I hope more rest and fewer people in the house will calm him down. I also wish that a hired caregiver (even for a few hours) and/or elder daycare services could give you, the sole caregiver, more freedom and deserved breaks.

Well, there's no ignoring the bald fact that Big City trip days do not encourage lots of V/Fs, exercise or water. For one thing, I'm in efficiency driving mode to get to all my appointments, finish my errands, and get back home to take off my foundation garments. For another, there aren't many acceptable pee stops between here and the City. Nonetheless, it was still a low-calorie day (ahi tuna for lunch, which was delicious). Finally the scales are rewarding my iron will, and my skinny pants are fitting better.

Lunch yesterday with the pre-op patient was fun. He's a smart guy, very motivated, and with good family support. He's going to do great! He's another of those folks who (cough!) have always been able successful with everything else in life except managing my weight!" I'm so tickled for him, knowing the fun adventure and all the rewards he's going to gain. :)

Oh, and at my favorite clothing consignment boutique yesterday I scored some lovely St. John black satin evening slacks and sleek black wool trousers, as well as a few more groovy pieces. Score!

Yesterday's therapy session was excellent and focused on trusting myself more to make things go well on the self-care and weight maintenance fronts. For example, I keep so many self-care to-do lists and metrics (y'all see only a few of them). Consequently, I have some big homework to do before next month's session, the theme of which will be "Trust Me!" as in - really, Ann, trust yourself! It's a timely assignment, since it's been almost 4.5 years since WLS, and am no longer the same person I was back then. Demonstrably, I've built many new skills and habits, have strong intentions, and have demonstrated my dependability, yet I still often regard myself like a wayward adolescent and (simultaneously) try to act like her helicopter parent. "Frailty, thy name is perfection." Like Apple suggested, it's time to Think Different!

BTW, December's therapy session will be my last until early April when I return from NOLA.

This morning I went back to yoga class, which was luscious, then to my hairdresser for a cut, color, and darker eyebrows, then picked up Rxs (eye drops for my second cataract surgery). This evening I'll be attending a dinner party I'd completely forgotten about - and right in the middle of my Ten Days to Lose Three Pounds Challenge. Dagnabbit!

Today's theme: At tonight's dinner party trust me!

P.S. Today I'm listening to cool Canadian crooner Michael Bublé and his "Christmas" platter on Amazon Prime: https://music.amazon.com/search/michael+buble+christmas+albu m

Lack of recharging alone time ratchets my anxiety up to the stratosphere. I'm getting anxious just reading about your SIL!
