VSG Maintenance Group
Thursday February 1, 2018
It was a different type of day at work today. The reconfiguration of our work space was done, so we all worked (or at least tried to) in a small conference room. The whole group went to lunch together, which was a good way to get to know the newer team members. My space wasn't being touched, so I spent the afternoon there, though it was chaotic, and loud at times, with all the construction workers around. Tomorrow should be more normal.
Well, I fasted for 17 hours, though it was planned to be less. We were supposed to go to lunch earlier, but the plan changed. It actually wasn't hard and I could only eat 1/2 of my lunch, though I did fini**** later. We had a late dinner. I had a salad with grilled chicken for supper. I feel very satisfied. I think having gone a few weeks now with low carb eating helps. My boss is doing the daily 16 hours of fasting with an 8 hour window of eating, which is what I'm trying out. My co-worker is doing 2 non-consecutive days a week of fasting 24 hours, though he did say something about being able to eat up to 500 calories at some point in the 24 hours. I think that pattern would be too difficult for me. I am low keyed about the whole thing, and just taking it one day at a time. It just feels like it might be a good thing. We'll see.
Have a great rest of the night all! Hugs, Mary
Hmmm... intrigued with the fasting...

I googled intermittent fasting and read some of the information. Who knows how much is accurate. But, there are lots of people doing it, with good results, not just for weight loss, but general health. The way my boss explained it is that it takes 12 hours to completely process what we eat at a meal. After that, the body uses its fat reserves. The articles I read did say that the first few hours after eating, the body digests the food, which is followed by a neutral period. However, after 12 hours is when the body gets active again. A couple of the articles said that the body then tends to increase metabolism, so it's burning fat at about a 3-5% faster pace. I'm probably not explaining this all correctly, but I think that was the gist of it. Of course, during the 8 hours of eating, it's not throwing caution to the wind and pigging out. To lose weight, sensible, healthy eating still needs to happen. My boss has now lost 32 lbs., in just a little over a month. My co-worker had lost a lot of weight on WW and could see the pounds starting to come back, though not much yet. He is doing the fasting and then eating what he wants, to maintain his weight. Both have said that they don't find they want to eat more after fasting, which is what made me think about trying it, along with the fairly quick weight loss my boss is experiencing.
