Weight 116.6, calories 938. I was able to control almond eating yesterday (I usually can in the beginning), so only had an ounce which seems to be reaping the bathroom results hoped for this morning. SIL suggested putting them in 1 ounce snack bags. It is worth trying to see if psychologically it keeps me from over indulging.

The weather is supposed to be warmer over the next few weeks with less wind, so we may go to the beach today.

I made this recipe last night and everyone loved it. I would add more tomatoes and maybe some peppers next time: https://kalynskitchen.com/low-carb-deconstructed-pizza-casse role/.

Have a thankful Thursday!

Good morning,

I am so industrious this morning! No early workout, I am finishing up a beef stew for a potluck tomorrow. A beloved doctor is retiring and there is a downtown (muckity-muck) reception late today so there wouldn't be time to cook tonight. I started to fret about reception food but I am pretty sure the food won't be that great. So who cares.

The REAL food party will be the Friday potluck at our home clinic. This guy is loved and everyone will be bring in their best. Sort of ironic since he was recently diagnosed with diabetes and most of our "bests" aren't that great for peeps with metabolic disorders. I have some practice at not losing myself to the potluck so I am hopeful it won't be a big deal. And my stew is VSG friendly.

Liz, I have (ahem) problems repacking nuts into individual servings. Now I buy these 12 pack box of 100 calorie lightly salted almonds. I was worried about the "lightly salted" being blah but they are aok. I frequently wonder if my real craving is for salt, rather than the actual nuts or crackers. Maybe I just need a salt lick. (Hmmm, flashing back to salt licks on the farm which I unfortunately seem to remember the taste of. The mineral blocks, too. OMG. Must move on to new topic.)

Paula, oh, that heart of yours makes my heart hurt, too. Try to take care. Ann, I am thinking of you, too. Cecily, I am glad your dad has new appointments scheduled. Will you be dog sitting again?

Must go degrease the sauce. Peace and hope.

Shel

Liz, so glad the almonds worked and you were able to keep them to 1 oz. I was able to weigh nuts in the past and just eat one bag. I haven't done that in a long time. It might be worth another try. I can put just about 1 oz. or less of sliced almonds in my yogurt, without wanting to eat the whole bag.

The pot luck sounds like fun Shel!

Glad you liked the Bar Harbor area. It's such a beautiful area! We stayed at the Blue Nose in and could see the harbor from our balcony. The seasonal job I had was at one of LL Bean's call centers. They're a great place to work for.

Thanks for the info about the nutritionist that doesn't think IF is a fad. That makes me feel even more that it's worth a try.

Like who hasn't tasted a salt lick? When we were kids/teens and we got a new salt/mineral lick for the horses we'd always use it first! LOL!

Settling in in the middle of my range. I had popcorn at the movies and gutted a pulled pork taco with some yummy citrus slaw afterward. Hostiles was exceptional because of one of the finest performances I've ever seen, by a British actress Rosamund Pike. I have NEVER seen such expressive eyes...breathtaking and gut wrenching. She wouldn't have had to utter a single word. WOWZER !!

I'm all on for "destination hiking" ... one base for a variety of walks, hikes, opportunities. I think it would give us much more flexibility with meals and healthy options as well as hotels with Wi-Fi and a pool. Love it !!

Hugs and support to all of us as we begin a new month. So many challenges ahead... some known and some not. It is remarkable how the power of this group can sustain us through the low points and share in the celebration of the highs.

I haven't heard much about Hostiles. I'll have to check it out. It's probably playing at the indie theater in Waterville.

A new month and it brings us closer to spring - YAY!!!! Hopefully, whatever challenges are ahead we're all able to get through. I agree about the power of this group. I get so much from everyone, and always feel incredibly supported.

Greetings Thursday Buddies:

144.5 today. At least its not getting worse. Cripes, if thats the most positive thing I can say, I need an attitude adjustment. Or more coffee.

Liz that pizza casserole looks great. I will try it. Looks like the veggies could indeed be upped. Pizza is something I crave more than sugar and this looks like it has the taste.

Paula, still thinking of you and all you have going on. May the stress deities cut you a break. We are all sending you strength and energy.

Hmmm, Shel, salt lick? Well, if its good enough for Bambi..... And hey, I can remember the taste of our dog's food from when I used to sample it at age 3. My eating issues obviously began early.

Cecily, glad your dad's appointments are rescheduled. Wishing you and your family the best on this.

Well today's agenda is a trip to the chiropractor. I made the appointment a while back when my back was acting up. Its better now but never hurts to have an adjustment. Then its studio time. My hands have healed up enough that I can get into clay a bit if I wear gloves with a couple of fingers cut out. Then a stop at the gallery to print out data so I can do the artists checks and look at our banking.

Ann, here is hoping you get some rest and find a bit of peace.

Dave, hug those babies. Thanks for the coffee variety suggestions. Hmm, I wonder if there is an on line coffee blog that describes the tastes in ways that make sense?

Thanks for the movie tip, Diane O. That sounds like one to see. We are so behind on movie theater visits, probably due to our new super duper tv.

Well, DH and dog Chip are off to patrol the neighborhood. Not the unibomber today. No hood.

Time to get going for the day. Hugs all. Diane S

Molasses was poured over the grain for the horses. We also bought this really crappy chopped up alfalfa hay mixed with molasses called All in One. Ever heard of that?

Never heard of that. But, we had our own alfalfa fields and baled hay. So, I suppose just the molasses needed to be brought in.....and I am pretty sure just for the beef cattle.
