Yep, it's my hips that stop me. I haven't felt the girdle feeling, but the joints and muscles sure ache starting at around 7 miles. Hoping a trainer can help with that!

Trainer! Yes! I keep thinking I'm going to get back to a trainer that I have used a couple of years ago. Maybe in Mar/April.

Tee Hee Shel, your parrot is making the texting sound! I had a friend who had a parrot and several dogs. The door bell would ring and the dogs would run barking to the door. Then the parrot learned to make the doorbell sound and would do so to make the dogs go running and barking to the door. DS

Mine would squeak like the front door. You knew someone was coming in. Psych. He would also whistle for the dog and the dog would go and stand below his cage. Double psych.

Do. Or do not. Profound.

Greetings Fair Friends

144.5. At least all the crappy food is disappearing so that DH can start Atkins and I will benefit too. I am looking forward to getting this stuff out of here. For a long time I was able to pass it up but this past 6 months or so its been reaching out and touching me. I need to do some soul searching a la Devon to find out why I have been self destructive lately. I used to think I knew why I overate - childhood comfort things - but that was 60 years ago. You would think I would get over it.

Oh well, today is another day and there is more delicious coffee. I got quite a bit of financial and paper work stuff done yesterday but it was like peeling an onion - more layers of stuff to do.

Diane O, you are such a dedicated puppy mom. It will pay off. Good on you for all the walking. I must admit I mostly just put the pups outside in the back yard. And thanks for the soup ideas. Lentils tonight!!

Just got an email from a friend whom I thought was in Arizona. Turns out she is in Buffalo! Brrrr indeed. Liz I saw on the news last night that they found some frozen sharks at Cape Cod. Jaws - sicles! But it can sure make you stir crazy. I can remember days in the midwest where I was snowed in and somehow equated that with the need to make chocolate chip cookies.

BB I hope you will name your girl as you choose and not let others interfere. DSD will get over it. Kathryn is a lovely middle name. Even big kids can experience sibling rivalry. Out here everyone names their kids "Sequoia" and River and Waterphal and Forrest Legend. Even adults change their names from Gary to Grizzley. Go figure.

Well I almost have had enough college football but not quite. We will have a guest for New Years day for the final dose. The big TV is being flakey and a new one is in the near future.

Hey Cecily, what fun to volunteer on a float. I always wanted to do that. My mom's crazy friend Pat had a condo a few blocks off of Colorado Blvd so they went to the parade often. I will watch for the Sihk float. And I am chasing my own wagon too only not moving very fast.

Hey Shel, I didn't know anyone used pressure cookers anymore other than the advent of the instant pot. I remember my mom using one when I was a kid and I was afraid of it. I had a job in high school at KFC and they fried their chicken in a gallon of crisco under pressure.

Well enough drivel. Have a great day everyone! Diane S

Hi all,

I stayed up way too late again last night, but enjoyed a long stint in bed this morning. Ron even brought me coffee in bed. Spoiled me! YAY!

Weight is holding steady, but still too high. Working on my "stuff". I blogged about my New Year Resolution abstinence and am setting aside a full hour to sketch today to see if I can make some headway on figuring out a visual reference to help me maintain focus on real priorities.

Going to spend a lot of time today, too, working on my own pooches. It will be nice to have them trimmed up to start the new year.

I NEED a new mattress! Went mattress test driving the other night. A lesson in products, indeed! Foam this, foam that. Inner springs, foam coils, more support, less support.... Do you know it seems impossible to find an old fashioned basic spring mattress without a topper thing? I tried one of those bed in a box things - not for me. Too firm, but not very supportive either. Looks like I will end up paying somewhere around 2K for one mattress I liked or 4K for the one I REALLY liked. I think that's a lot of money for a mattress, but it is my sleep and my health. Have to think about it. However, I can get 0% financing for up to 72 months on any mattress, which might be enough to sway me to buy the expensive mattress. As BB likes to say, "First World Problems!"

My weight training has introduced me to a new focus... Yesterday we focused on working my back. I also did the sled for legs and cardio and good old fashioned push ups, but the other three sets were all back focused. Isolating movement to focus on form to engage the back is trickier than one might think! I found myself analyzing how mentally focusing on using my back and shoulders took pressure off of my elbows, neck, and lower back. It made the exercises much easier at first, and then much harder the last three to five reps. I felt hugely complimented when my trainer said that we would keep the weight light for under hand, close grip pull downs (basically, seated chin ups), and set the weight at 100 lbs. Ain't nothing light about 100 lbs. in my opinion. LOL! Fat, but fit! Yay me!

JFGSD - Blog set up (check one)!

Diane O. I'm guessing you must be familiar with Lucy Calkins since you are in NY state. Ron, my BFF and I decided last night that I will write a new, user friendly, student centered, practical guide to teaching writing entitled, Loosely Calkins!
