Good Morning ! 134.2...at the bottom of my range. Starting to get excited about lower numbers...time to go back to glancing at where I am in my healthy range and posting weight outside that range. Atlas has had a positive effect on my activity level. Taking him out to pee every time he wakes up, finishes playing, eats, and "does the walk" means bundling up taking boots on and off, and walking a circuit in the cold. He is responding well to training. Shadows freak him out a bit when it is really sunny (Ha) or the flood lights are on. We're working him through this fear. He's back to sleeping through the night, and will use a pad in his crate or by the back garage door when the wind chills are too frigid.
I never jumped on the Instapot. I love my crock pot, and grabbing Siggy's yogurt off the shelf at the market. About to put white chicken chili in the crock pot, and lentil soup on the docket for later in the week. Soup weather for sure ! ,Paula, safe travels home. Ann, hope DH continues to feel well and enjoy time with D D. BB, glad steps loved their gift. It won't be long now, until Nugget arrives. Enjoy these last few weeks of sleep, until your body prepares you for 2-3 hour increments ! Liz, I'm ready to return to Florida with you ! Dave,, looking forward to more baby pictures and some of the shop counters. Cecily..hang on to that wagon !! Kairk...off to read blog #2 !! Can't wait.
JFGSD minus one and counting !

Weight 116, calories 1025. I'm getting low in my range, but we have parties coming up the next couple of days, then a visit with DD so hopefully it won't creep up. At least there are very few of the holiday treats left in the house.
I am looking forward to getting out of the cold because I feel house-bound, my skin is getting all dried out and my fingers are cracking.
Yesterday I dealt with all the bills and financial paperwork. The only remaining thing I have to do ****il next months bills), is to call Caremark about DH's medications so they will send them to FL instead of here. It is weird that though he had an account online with the old insurer, he doesn't seem to have one with the new one even though he gets medications from them under his current plan. Maybe I have to open a new online account to see them...
I seem to have settled into a sleep pattern the last couple of weeks. We will see if it stays the same in Florida. I'm going to bed at 10 and sleeping quite soundly until 7. I may want to get up a bit earlier down there so I can walk at 8, but we will see. I don't think I've ever had 9 hours a sleep a night every night in the past, but I also had bouts of insomnia, but am falling asleep pretty quickly now.
Have a super Saturday!

No weight today.
Not much food insight.
I'm feeling...?hormonal? We have been pretty settled on Nugget's name and families, including stepkids, have been involved. I told DH he should double check that DSD wasn't upset with the name before we made it official. Because we were going to use "Kathryn" for Nugget's middle name and "Kaitlyn" is DSD's first name. She was polite, but it was pretty apparent it does bother her. I guess I find it upsetting because was she going to just not say anything and hold it against us later when it was too late? Should I just be thankful she was being polite? I also thought I was getting to a point where I knew where I stood with her because I had NO idea she felt this way. And now it's making me wonder what else she's not telling.
Not to mention it took a lot of thought coming up with a name DH and I could agree to and liked and I started to identify Nugget with this name. Now we're starting over. Granted, I can still use the first name, but this name was going to be DH's initials. Plus hormones may be affecting my processing of EVERYTHING.
Definitely lots of hormones floating around I would guess! Any chance that DSD wants you to use her actual name (Kaitlyn) as Nugget's middle name (and she is embarrassed to say that)?

I wouldn't overthink DSD's silence....I would guess it is much more about being polite and thinking that it was her issue, that she would get over it, and didn't want to bring it up. Honestly, I don't think those two names are all that similar besides having a similar look. (I am not very sensitive about this sort of thing) Good intuition on your part to think to specifically ask.
I haven't read as much as I would have liked in the last couple of days. But...about the instant pot.....check out nomnompaleo. She has an instant pot section, all vsg friendly, her recipe directions are clear and they work.
For more general instant pot stuff maybe checkout instant pot. tho I hate the website design.
I don't like a lot of recipes that on-line posters rave about. Carby and mushy and simply no appeal. One carby one that I like, tho, is risotto. Super easy DD pleaser.
I have had a pressure cooker for decades, I use homemade broth almost exclusively and frequently will cook a whole chicken so I have cooked chicken available in the fridge. I frequently make my own beans. I like the instant pot because it is hands off. I haven't done it for a while, but have a long history of throwing in hunks of beef with chipotle etc I am more likely to get that done in the pressure cooker than I am in the slow cooker.

I'm so excited, my friend and I are going to put flowers on a Rose Parade float this afternoon! It's the Sikh-American float. I love the parade (it's absolutely magical to see in person if you ever have a chance to go). So to get to be a part of it is awesome. It's in a warehouse with 15 other floats so we'll get a good sneak preview of part of the parade. The floats are all decorated by volunteers from every imaginable service organization. And so much is last minute because of the fleeting nature of flowers. I'm not sure if we can take pictures, but if we can, I will share.
Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!
Definitely a great opportunity!

Hello Saturday Snoozers!
Or is that just me? I worked out at 7am, have done nothing since then. I am afraid of mountain roads but hope to get out to ski tomorrow.
So, I proclaim, JFDI! By that, I mean get the house clean so I can play the rest of the weekend!
Dave, you will understand this perfectly when I say that I have to keep checking my phone because my African Grey is pranking me with the texting tweet.
Cecily, my preferred hiking length is 8-14 miles with 2000-4000ft elevation. (But I sure do love a shorter, flat hike in the woods or on the beach or with my Buster.)
I am ok during the time of the hike but on the drive home a virtual girdle squeezes the daylights out of hips. (I have actually looked in the mirror to see the girdle. Nothing to see but it made me look) And I am very achey the next day --- I wouldn't be able to do my "preferred" hike 2 days in a row.
My beastly neighbor and I have a particular place to hike this summer that would be a few strenuous days in a row with backpacks. I'm trying to not lose too much of endurance over the winter and hopefully increase strength.
Fitness is a funny thing. You (or at least me) always want just a little more.
Do. Or do not. There is no try.
Shel
