I do indeed love that prayer and don't think I have heard more than the first stanza either! Thank you!

216 Monday morning after returning from a loooong road trip weekend with my son and his friend for college football. Thursday morning, we drove 11 hours and Sunday morning we drove 11 hours back. Worth the drive.

213 yesterday morning and 210 this morning.

I am not sure if the gain and quick loss is from the crazy weekend or from my panic and shock at how high the scale went up. I did not overindulge while away, but there was a lot more salt and reduced water (for obvious reasons). To say I am watching every little thing I eat and drink and moving more than usual, is an understatement. I am going to try to keep this going. A downward trend is seriously needed.

Joey, to (maybe) make you feel a little better ... I have gained 5-6 pounds after a long road trip or long airplane flights, especially after being away from home and eating differently than I do at home, even if I don't overindulge much at all. That kind of work goes away very fast. A lot of it is (as you said) salt and water retention and also badly needed bathroom activity.

Greetings Great Ones

140.5. When I started this group I was at my goal weight of 132. I was in Scottsdale with my brother and in a hotel with a laptop so thats when it began. I proceeded to lose more weight by accident and was too thin - 117. Dr. said don't worry and he was right. I guess 8 pounds over 8 years is not too bad. Thanks for the kind remarks all. The journey continues ...

A shrink once told me to imagine 10 years ahead on what I would like to look back and remember doing (the idea being go do it) and I did. I did many of those things and am grateful for it. We should do the same with our new skinny selves. I look back on these past 8 years and am glad it did the traveling I did and family things. Time to make a new 10 year list.

Cecily, talk about your bad airline experiences! Must have been so terrible on that flight. Think of his poor wife! And I am sorry to hear that your dad is having issues. Doctor visit is certainly in order. Would your Dad use a walking stick? Its kind of more cool than a cane. DH takes one when he walks the dogs to ward off loose dogs.

Ann breakfast sounds yummy. Even better if some one else makes it and brings it. I am going to demand that we go out to dinner more. DH goes out to lunch often while I stay in my studio with cheese sticks.

Liz, 500 mile drive and THEN grocery shopping!! You go girl.

Well Shel its good of you to think of helping out your co worker. But don't forget our self-care thing.

DH has a follow up today with eye surgeon. He insists he wants some interim glasses even though the prescription will change. Then he wants to go to Costco on black friday to get it filled. Oy Vey.

Well, time to get moving. There is about a thousand pounds of junk to pick up around the house before cleaner arrives.

Bon appetit indeed. Diane S

He's historically been so fit and athletic, he really bristled at the idea of a cane or stick when it was brought up. But at some point it won't be a question of choice, but of necessity. It's been such a hard adjustment in lifestyle for him!

PS - The crapbag identity thieves were able to change my bank login email and password today, despite what I thought were very strong online ids and passwords. So today was spent closing bank accounts and opening new ones. ARGH!!!!

Cecily -- I'm so glad you are on top of this! I can't imagine how a "regular person" (not as savvy as you, because not many people are!) could possibly stay in front of this insanity.

Jeez!

Yikes Cecily, thought you had those thieves behind you. Not fun. My sympathies.

The walking stick that myDH has is beautifully carved wood with leather cord and is much taller than a cane. So thats why I thought your dad might accept it as its rather manly and not elderly. But when you reach a certain age I guess you live like on your own terms. Gotta respect that.

Looks like all kinds of Thanksgiving prep are going on. I was in the same mode today. Took a friend for a colonoscopy, ran errands while I waited for her to be ready, picked her up, took her to eat something (she was famished!), got her home, did the last of my grocery shopping, came home fed pups and sat down to "veg" a little before getting up and finishing my to-do list for the day. I'm down to only two things: the gym and working on bills and checkbook.

Weight is stable. Mood is fine, though I'm giving Ron a wide berth! He's a bit cranky! LOL! Thinking about my disordered eating on and off. It's not pressing on me and I like that I'm not feeling panicked by my affliction. I'm fairly certain I will be able to step away from the behavior in the next week(s) and take stock. Guess I'm coming up to the next mountain in my path. Thank goodness I've been "working out" and am ready for the climb!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hey Paula, just read the post on CB. Here's hoping that you find the surgeon that is needed and the insurance company gets in line. So it seems to be good news and at least you are beginning to get some answers. Diane S
