Nope - no fat lady in the house! I have to do the same with the candy (get what I don't like). There will be no milky ways or Twix coming in my door. I remember when I would buy them ahead of time, then have to re-buy them because I ate too much before Halloween...

I'm probably not being honest enough with myself, but most candies don't bother me. Well, at the office they do.
**Candy descriptions ahead that may cause cravings. You've been warned**
I keep a candy bowl out year-round. It's very nostalgic for me because my grandmother ALWAYS had candy bowls that would make peoples' eyes light up. And now, the very same thing happens when people come in to my house! Grown men ooh and ahhh at the candy. It satisfies some homey take-care-of-everyone need that I have. I also really enjoy buying candy. Is that weird? Just having it satisfies something deep within. And maybe in some way, just knowing it's there and I can have it anytime I want makes it less appealing?! At the office, this doesn't hold true as I'm just bored and looking for something to eat midday. But I know I've written it before, I'm coming to realize that off-limits means MUST HAVE for me. For most of the year I don't have to keep up the candy jar too often. But it definitely gets more regulars now-Christmas ;) My little candy jar has transitioned to candy corn now, and a bigger bowl of pass-out candy sits next to it. Like I said, if I'm being completely honest, I probably eat more of it than I'd like to confess. Especially since I included Reeses early this year (my achilles heel).
I know what you mean on the protein powders. After VSG I could not do certain flavors and textures. The Sun warrior blend is a bit gritty. Not awful but the taste is good. I do not notice the grittiness in my smothies. The other 2 proteins that I do use from time to time are Pro Blend 55 and Myprotein but they are both whey blends or whey isolate. They both suit my taste but I do have altered taste.

P.S. Remember putting Fritos in chili when we were kids? Was that just a midwest thing? They used to serve it at the jr. high cafeteria. Now it sounds so gross. There is a way to take Mission brand low carb tortillas and microwave them until just before they are burnt and it makes a great crispy chip with anything. Only that brand works. DS
while I'm sharing recipes, here's the lemony chicken saltimbocca from the other night. Probably one of DH's favorites.

It is impressive enough to serve to company, easy enough for a weeknight. If serving to company, I'll do creamy parmesan orzo and garlicky broccoli rabe. If just us, I might do roasted brussels sprouts/other veg like Monday, or roasted cauli with browned butter, or honestly even my stepkids love my garlicky roasted broccoli rabe!
