Good morning all. Convinced myself to get on the scale again and saw 117. Seems far from my fav number but below my red zone by a hair. I'm not feeling the motivation to make any serious changes right now, but with that said, I'm still aware and conscientiously making choices every day. Haven't thrown in the towel by any means.

Home today doing some chores and planning to run a few errands too. Also made some adjustments to my social media feeds to block out a lot of the political stuff because I'm getting sucked into a lot of time spent on useless negativity. Not to suggest I don't stay informed but I've reached a level where additional info just brings me down and wastes my time.

Looking ahead and dreaming of spring.  Bought new flooring and additional cabinetry for the RV. Looking forward to working on it when the weather gets warmer!  getting ready to add white back into my wardrobe too lol. I'm looking forward to wearing white denim and a colourful sweater before February is done!

The Girls Scouts Have Attacked!

Yesterday was day one of girl scout cookie sales. I was certifiably attacked. Not only at school, but once home the door bell was a ringing all frickin' afternoon. I did buy 2 boxes from the young girl down the street that we know from Ron's old church. I also bribed some 5th grade boys to referee my 3rd grade boys during 4 square yesterday with a box of thin mints - so bought that box for the boys. Then my teaching partner's 1st grade daughter hit me up, so I bought 3 boxes from her, but those will just get dumped in the teacher's lunchroom. Confession: I did have a couple Do Si Dos and a couple of Savannah Smiles - so not quite an extra 300 calories of crap.

My cold is not leaving. My voice is somewhat better today. I had another very restless night. Awake on and off from 1:45 on. Does not make for good rest. I also had to use my albuterol inhaler this morning. I haven't used an inhaler in about 4 years. It did help clear some of the muck out of my bronchia. I'm lucky though, that I seem to have avoided the second stage of this particular virus, which is stomach issues. I felt nauseous Tuesday, but it passed within an hour. The two other teachers at school have progressed to all out vomiting and #3!

Can't remember if I mentioned yesterday the lone wolf pup has an arrival date. The C section is scheduled for 2/20. Nice that it is on a school holiday. I may have to take the following day off, too. We shall see.

Trying to focus on my positives. I think I'm going to have to actually sit and write down a list. It may be easier for me that way.

LIz, best of luck on the drive. How many days will it take for you to get to Florida?

I missed something - why a c-section?  (Sounds expensive too!)

I sarcastically refer to the lone wolf as the $4,000 puppy. Large breed dogs don't usually have single pup litters. Labor is dictated by hormone levels and with a single pup the hormone level will not be sufficient to sustain labor. The pup will most likely break away from the uterine wall, get into the birth canal and then uterine inertia will set in and the pup will die, which would result is a C section to get the dead pup out, so might as well be proactive and give the little one a chance to survive. A singleton has a lot going against it from the get go: mama often rejects the pup or is very slow to warm to it, lack of milk production can often lead to tube or bottle feeding, no littermates from which to learn social behaviors, and the list continues... Many breeders would prefer no pups to a single pup.

Yes far from an ideal situation!  Didn't know about the labour and birth risks of a single pup

3 days drive: the plan (subject to change) is day 1  to Fredericksburg VA, day 2 to Savannah GA, day 3 arriving hopefully before SuperBowl, since our Patriots are playing. I think it works out to a total of 23 hours (if we don't hit bad traffic):  8.5 hrs day   1; 8 hours day 2; 6.5 hours day 3

For those hacking with colds and maybe also the flu, I feel for you.  And for those not yet hacking, keep washing those hands!

It'****ting hard here.  In my yoga class alone (only 18 people when everyone is present), 2 students who'd been hacking for over a month have now been out for a couple of weeks with pneumonia.  The crud is brutal this year.  I have never personally known so many people to be diagnosed with pneumonia at the same time.

All together now:  Wash those hands!

206.  My daughter is being released from the hospital today, it is shocking how much better she got so quickly.  Thank God!

My daughter's dialysis supplies were delivered yesterday, probably 100 boxes lined up outside her front door.  Her husband cannot lift them so my son and I relayed and stacked them inside.  It was a lot of work, but it went quickly.  I am grateful to be strong and more grateful to have a wicked strong son.

I had the boys last night, scrubbed them like dirty puppies, put them to bed and dressed them in new clothes I bought for school so I wasn't up later than I was doing laundry.

When I told my daughter I would pick her up from the hospital on my way home from work, she said that her husband was picking her up.  He should not be driving, but insists that he can.  I called motor vehicles and asked if he was medically suspended from driving.  None of his doctors sent in notifications as they are obligated to do.  I checked with one of his doctors who misunderstood my question and kept saying they would not medically clear him to drive.  I called motor vehicles back and had to formally request a medical review.  It cannot be anonymous, so I am going to catch some heat from my daughter and more from my son-in-law, but it had to be done.  They cannot afford to lose me, so I am not too concerned about their reactions.  I have the best defense-- I am afraid he is going to hurt himself and others.  If he is able to drive, he will be cleared.

On the food side -- a family member sent me four $10 McDonalds gift cards.  Dinner was late yesterday, so I went through the drive-thru, got them Happy Meals while my son and I had leftovers when we got home.  We were starving, so he and I got ice cream cones, but that was the least of the evils tempting us.

My husband reported FIL to DMV.  They did nothing, nothing at all.  DH eventually CHAINED the car to a cement post.  Lordy.  Effective but geez.
