I'm still below my goal but I've been letting more carbs back into my diet. I'm worried this could derail me, what should my maintenance carb count be?

I've been playing around with this, too.  I think maybe the total numbers aren't as important as what kind of carbs and how many at one sitting you are getting.  Upping the good for you complex carbs= more fiber and vitamins- vegetables some fruit, legumes, etc.   The cracker, bread carbs are sliders for me and touch off the carb monster, so I try and limit.  I also am trying to spread the carb load throughout the day.  For me, saving them up for a "splurge" is just too close to the food manipulation shenanigans I used to play pre WLS.   I was diabetic - in remission and want to stay that way, so I try to keep the numbers under 100--on a day to day basis, I probably am closer to 50-60.  Am very interested in what other maintainers have to say 'bout this topic!  Bonnie

I agree with everything Bonnie said.  I've been in maintenance for 20 months now and I'm learning that if I keep my cals and carb levels to 1300-1500 and 75-100 respectively from Mon-Thu, I can go off-plan a little bit over the weekend and still keep my weight within an acceptable range.  I also need to work-out at least three times a week, but nothing too hard.  I had to go through a bunch of trial and error to find this "equilibrium" so I would encourage you to experiment with different carb levels to see what works best for you.  Increasing cals and carbs slowly (as in weekly increments, not daily) seems to be the most effective way to figure out at what point you start gaining weight.  As Tom likes to say, "no sudden moves in maintenance."

Good luck on your journey!

Fiona

Thx Bonnie!

I let a few carbs back in but think I may have a gluten allergy so that may help keep me in check! I've always tried to keep my carbs
