OK, wassup for Thanksgiving?

I am having two Thanksgiving meals, one on Thursday, one on Friday.  I will probably overdo it a bit at each but then eat some soup for a few days and detox.  I mostly eat the protein anyway, but there will some indulgences for sure.

Just curious about how you go about detoxing.  I'm feeling like I need to do something like that.  What's your method?

I detox with my soups.  I eat my usual breakfast of eggs and then stick to my soup for a few days.  It never fails, I lose a few pounds in two to three days and my restriction comes right back.  I am planning on doing this starting on Saturday for a few days.

That sounds great.  I have some of your soup in my freezer so I think that is what I will do.

I had the big eating day yesterday (Thanksgiving tradition, friends gathering, pre-family craziness..) I gave myself a slight bellyache.. but it was worth it. Been eating lean before and after..

So, for Tday proper- Dad & DH are deep frying the turkey and I'm making all the sides for the 4 of us.. and I'm doing it low carb, save for the topping on the green bean casserole, from scratch- even snapped the beans and made the mushroom sauce, cranberry/ginger garlic chutney, roasted butternut squash, truffled cauliflower faux mashed taters, and a low-carb pumpkin bourbon cheesecake for dessert. I told mom if she wanted stuffing, she'd have to make it!

On my snooping for low-carb desserts I know I saw a low-carb pecan pie- with the disclaimer, best served warm.. Here it is:

I am eating and drinking.

Every Thanksgiving i go to London and give a big party for ex-pats and friends.  I do all the cooking and bring some truly horrible American traditions.  since Thanksgiving is not an organic holiday for me i was in my 20's when i had my first and my friend, a truly old school southern woman had things I'd never heard of, such as, cheese food, you all would know it as Velveeta, Frenches pre fried onions, the list was long, i did draw the line with cool whip in ambrosia and little marshmallows.  what's that about?.  Truly nightmare American fare, which i have only ever had on said holiday.

Since then I've spent Thanksgiving with many American families and picked up recipes at all.  I put all of these goodies on display for this party, (hate pies, pumpkin and pecan, so unfortunately they have to forgo that, although one year someone had a baker make some, there are some Americans that come who think I'm sacrilegious).

Anyhow I've been doing low everything for the past 3 weeks and i will after also until i get it off, if in fact there is anything to get off but I'm having my Thanksgiving.

As of this morning i am 119lbs.  Four lbs to goal.

For me it's important not to be resentful and feel like a freak. I need to feel that  I can still participate in life, this is the way for me.  Plus, I'm not a dessert person and other than turkey i can have a teaspoon of sides and not all at the same meal but it's definitely a high calorie outing, and that's not factoring in ****tails.

Happy Thanksgiving All.
