I've lurked on this board for over a year in hopes of gleaning some info that might be useful during the weight loss phase to prepare myself mentally for maintaining the weight. I've read lots of good advice for getting my head wrapped around the trials and pitfalls of maintaining. As of two weeks ago, I'm at goal...yay!

I have been trying to bump the calories up, but have found that I still lost 3 more pounds in 2 weeks. I'm having problems getting enough calories because I absolutely do not want to go back to high carb foods. Being low carb has made such a difference in my osteoarthritis that I really hope I don't fall back into wheat-laden foods ever again.

I get 70-80 g. of protein and keep the carbs between 80-100. I eat 6 meals a day -- every 3-4 hours. Currently struggling to get 1200 calories.

Almonds used to be a favorite snack, but I find that 10 almonds is all I can eat. I cannot have peanut butter in my house -- give me a spoon and a jar of PB and I'll have supper. I'm thinking I should move to 2% Fage instead of 0%, add butter or full fat salad dressing to my veggies, eat more beef and pork instead of mainly turkey and chicken...

Any suggestions?

I've had the same trouble (see my ticker). I wouldn't up the carbs too much now until you see if you can stop without it, but that is what I've finally had to do. I am careful of the quality of the carbs I have added, though.

Your strategy of adding fats to your diet is a very good start since they tend to be calorie dense. You might also consider, if you like them, adding a protein shake back in. I do 2 a day, sometimes 3 on hike days like today.

Welcome!

Welcome!

My best advice, honestly, is to proceed with caution and not stress out too much if you get below goal for a while.  It's not at all inconceivable that your weight will bounce back up over time, and if you have a little "cushion," so much the better.

I have the same advice. Most of us find we bounce back at some point. Going 10-15 pounds under your goal weight may be a blessing in disguise.
