Calorie laden breakfast - No problems meting my calorie goal today. Made pain perdu for the hubby and decided to enjoy some myself. I cannot believe I just ate a close to 700 calorie breakfast. Going for a hike around the lake with DH in a bit.
I know I sound practically Amish, but I love the fact that we make all of our food at home from scratch. The only things on the table today that we didn't make at home were the powdered sugar (on his slices) and the sugar free maple syrup. Everything else, the bread, the strawberry compote (on his - too much sugar for me), even the butter we made at home.

Salt, salt, salt.... had salted nuts yesterday and am paying the price. On the flip side, getting all my calories in was a breeze because I ate two nice big handfuls of cashews. Nice treat, but boy did it make me thirsty last night!
Looking at replacing our Toyota van today with a big old Ford E 150 or 350 to schlep the dogs and then a Prius or Fusion for commuting and around town driving. Car shopping makes me all uptight!
Left for home and our warm fuzzy beds as everyone was hunkering down to sleep in temps dipping down into the upper 30's! One couple decided to set up in front of the fireplace in the shelter as it was warmer inside.. in fact, we spent the whole eve inside the shelter as under the stars was just too chilly! Interesting sights/sounds: The screech owls were in rare form calling close by at night, and the one lone Big Brown bat who was hunkered down in the rafters of the shelter was a star for a bit, as well as the field of giant puffball mushrooms behind the shelter, they almost glowed in the moonlight.. I've never seen so many in one area.
May go back next weekend for an overnighter, provided that the weather is warmer..
