Diane, I really enjoyed reading your post.  What a great example you set for us.  I really like the idea of setting maint. goals.  What a great way to stay on track and stay accountable.

I can't imagine staying the same size in clothing for an extended period of time.  The thought of wearing an item of clothing out, versus outgrowing them is unfathomable.  I want to be that person when I am in maint.

I hope your hands heal up fast and you can get at that healthy garden where you can grow your own organic veggies!

Congrats Diane.  I am so happy for you!

Terrific!!!
You have inspired me greatly from the beginning.
I, too will set that goal, and after being on maintenence for a few months now, I think it is achievable.
I truly expect that I will always be below my goal of 127 lb.

Wishing you all the best, Carol
count your blessings!!!!   At goal weight.   I am 5 ft 3.

As always, you are an inspiration!  I've been struggling the past couple of weeks so I'm trying hard to get back on track.  I think setting 6 months goals is a good idea.  When I saw the surgeon at my 1 year post op she gave me the choice of coming back in a year, or 6 months.  I chose 6 months.  Now, I think I'll set my goal to lose this last 5 pounds by then.  Should be doable.  But not if I keep doing what I've been doing for 2 weeks.  I'm on top of it and doing better already today!  No refined sugars are in my diet for the next month.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Thanks all. The idea of setting the six month goals (or even 3 months or one month) in a series came from discussions in this group about maintenance phase not being hugely different from weight loss phase except more calories and a somewhat wider choice of foods. So I had worked to hard to overcome bad habits and get new better ones that I thought I would just continue them whi*****ludes the food journaling. We all lost weight on traditional dieting and then got to some point and just started sliding back into old habits and weight started sneaking back; slowly at first and then like wildfire. And at the end of my surgeon's 50 page weight loss guide there is about one paragraph about maintenance. So It seemed like a good idea to take maintenance in increments just like weight loss. Too hard to think about being on plan for the next 30 years but easier to think about it for 6 months.

And do use that goal section on your OH page. Then you see it daily and if you are like me, you get a charge out of checking something off the list as accomplished.

I hadn't thought about using OH to set goals for maintenance - what a great idea!  I've been using a charm bracelet thus far - a charm for every weight loss goal, and now in year 1 of maintenance a charm for every 3 months at goal, year 2 every 6 months, and yearly after that .  This is my thinking right now, but I like the idea of also tracking this on OH.

Congrats on your maintenance!!

Awesome job Diane. Thanks for being accountable to yourself and putting yourself out there as an example that this can be done. Maintenance is achievable!
