I refuse to age gracefully! A novella
MacMadame,
I'm with you! I have a friend who is ten years younger than me, but people always think I am the younger one! the difference is not only the way we choose to take care of ourselves, but her attitude. She acts like an "old lady." She never wants to try anything new, and is very negative. She also has prescribed behavior on how people should act.
Case in point, we have a mutual acquaintance who is 50 something, and looks great physically: she rides a bike for commuting, does pilates, eat healthy etc. Anyway, we were at a festival and ran into this woman. She had on a skort. My friend said, "She knows she's way too old to have on that short of a skirt." I said, "It's a skort, and she looks fantastic, look at those legs!" My friend rolled her eyes and said, "You won't catch me dressing like that when I'm her age." I just said to each his own. But I looked at her and even though she is in her 30's, she looks a lot older. She is very dowdy looking. I was thinking to myself that she looks older than both of us, (me and the 50 year old now), so, no I can't imagine her wearing a skort in 20 more years because unless she does something to improve her appearance and work on her attitude she's still going to look like crap.

What I've noticed is that people who say these things wouldn't wear whatever it is at the age they are now!

Elina, I am right there with you.
I missed out on a lot in my 30's by being overweight. Now I plan on making up for it in my 40's. I needed all this plastic surgery to make me look 31, so I can do all of the stuff I missed.
I'm not going to overdo it, but I am definitely going to do whatever treatments I can find that keep me looking young. I've had Juvederm injections in my nasolabial folds and that plumped my cheeks out, made a big difference.
I just turned 40 but most people guess early 30's which is perfect for me. And the technology for keeping the skin looking young is only getting better.
Even though I am in a relationship now, I still like the male attention. I used to wear sweatpants when I would run errands, now I wear cute jeans and it feels great!
