LSG was performed following the technique described earlier using systematically a 34 Fr bougie.6 With this technique, the antrum was spared, starting the gastric resection about 6 cm proximal to the pylorus."
This is the exact procedure that my surgeon used. Except I have a 36 fr bougie. I remember before surgery he used a diagrahm and explained it carefully to me. On my 3 month check-up, I was remembering this and freaking out that he may have left a big ol'pouch below my sleeve that could hold buckets of food. So, I asked him about it again. He said he started 6cm from the pylorus to ensure no leaks and to not mess with that bottom portion of my stomach that acts as a blender churning/chopping the food into small bits and partially digesting it all up so it can be emptied into the intestines through the pylorus for nutrient absorption. He also told me he gave me a slight Y at the top of my stomach to prevent leaks. I asked him if I had an hour glass shaped sleeve and he said absolutely not. The Y is tiny and the start of the sleeve at the bottom is standard procedure to ensure the correct function of the stomach. He said my sleeve is a skinny banana. I also asked if he left any of my fundus and he said no.
I don't know.....I still wonder about it. Yet, i have great restriction except during my period when i can't find full. However, this last period I did figure out where full is. It's when my left shoulder hurts. I prefer to eat a set amount and not find full.....but during my period the appetite is insatiable. I hate it.
I've been sick with the flu for the past week, and I swear I shrunk my sleeve, I'm back to not being able to eat more than an ounce of food. It's as if I'm a week out from surgery again......weird. I think it shrunk, which is encouraging. Does this mean that we can reset it when we find that we can eat a lot more when we are further down the road?
