When am I going to wake up?

This has been a dream, y'all...

I have reached a weight of 124. I am stunned, thrilled, and in awe...

I never, never, never thought my body could even "get" to this weight. All those years I went up and down the scale, my personal best was 145 lbs and a size 8/10 (5'5").

For the first time in 20 years I went into an Express store last weekend. Since I was a teen I always wanted to shop there but it never seemed like anything fit. The large sizes never quite felt large enough.

But, for the first time in my life - I bought a size 2 pair of pants and they were FROM EXPRESS!

I'm posting this to get it off my chest mainly. Its hard to describe the elation and amazement to my close friends and family. They can't quite grasp the journey...

Question to you guys: what were your keys to maintenance? I would love to hear them because I don't think I want to wake up....this is too much fun!

Congratulations!  Enjoy the feeling.  This is one of the many reasons we have traveled down this road- to feel good about ourselves once again.

Maintenance- I weigh daily, keep up with exercise, and watch what I eat during the week so I can enjoy my weekends!  So far, it's been working for me.  I find that I don't have to be so strict with myself.  If I'm getting together with friends during the week, I enjoy it.  My sleeve keeps my portions in control.

Congratulations!  What an amazing feeling!!!

I'm still "toying" with maintenance.  In fact, I've decide to stay in "losing" mode through the holidays to help me stay in control.

I haven' used a NUT through the losing phase, but I am making an appointment for early January to discuss a plan of action.  I think my body kinda knows where it wants to be & portions are definitely in control due to my tool, but I want some "expert" advice.  I'll let you know my opinion on the "experts" after my appointment.

Congratulations!!  How Exciting!!

It really is amazing to be 'here' isn't it?  I hope we never wake up!

I would love to see a pic of you in your tiny size 2 pants, amazing!

The Key to My Maintenance is:
-  portion control - done by my sleeve
-  wise food choices - done by me
-  drinking water - done by me
-  exercise - done by me
-  getting back on track when I go off course - done by My Sleeve and by Me!

Life is GOOD!!

Hugs to you my dear, I loved your post...

In my opinion, you have been wide awake over for over a year - so embrace your wonderful success!  It is a surreal experience for sure.  I bought a pair of size 6 jeans knowing I would fit into them soon. Sure enough they fit last night. It's a wonderful trippy experience and something that only a fellow WLSer can relate to.  Way to go girl!

Congratulations!!  I know how you feel...just the thought of wearing the same clothes for more than 1 season is so foreign to me, but it's reality!!  I have to say that I weigh myself about every other day and try to eat well 85% of the time and it's working for me.  Good luck on your maintenance journey.  And keep rockin' the size 2's.

Congratulations! our surgery dates are not that far apart. I am struggling to keep my weight down.

It's a lot harder than it was before, It seems like if I put one wrong thing in my mouth, I gain a lb.

I'd love to see what kinds of stuff you eat in a day.

Congrats on your success. Its so very fun to get into a little pair of jeans regardless of what size so long as they seem little to you. As Frisco says "its all about the jeans".  And just a few months ago I got my first jeans in maybe 10 years. Always had to wear knit stretch pants. My friend calls them "roundy round pants".  And my size 10s are too big. Feels so good. And I sent a skinny pic to some friends far away who haven't seen me in quite awhile and talked to them today and they were so complementary. Yeah, I know, this whole thing is about good health and bla bla bla but NUTHIN' beats that moment when you put on the size 2 jeans. Love it. thanks for posting.

And thats what this group is all about - unlocking the secrets to maintenance. there have been a couple of posts on this group with lists of things. So far I think its mainly continuing accountablilty. I still weigh pretty much every day and journal all my food. I still follow the protein first rule and avoid the sweets and carbs that were killer addictive to me. And i take it one day at a time. If i think about how i might never eat a real candy bar again I am sure I would obsess about it until i ate 6, so i just think about how i won't have one now nor today or whatever. I also think another secret is finding things to do and be engaged in that are not about eating so that your time, mind and greasy little fingers are filled with other things.

So enjoy those jeans and get on with life! D

My keys are to mostly keep doing what I did to lose only lighten up a bit.

I still weigh most days. I still log my food a lot. (but not every day like before) I still watch what I eat (but eat more treats). I still exercise.

I had this idea that somehow maintenance would be very different from dieting and it took me a while and some experimenting that went awry before I figured out it really isn't that much different.
