Welcome to Teampricekc First Post
Hey gang,
This is Jackie Smith, aka [email protected].
I finally completed my training with OH to allow me to be the group leader of this board.
I am thrilled to have this as an option to support our live monthly support meetings held at the Embassy Suites on the second Wed. of each month at 6PM.
I thought I would start off by giving a quick update about myself and my WLS journey.
I had a gastric bypass on Sept.25, 2007.
From the time of starting my decision to have WLS and now I have lost right at 100 pounds.
I am proud of each of you whatever aspect of your journey you are on. Whether it is the decision point in your live or your life in the post-op era.
I look forward to hearing everyone's stories, trial and victories are welcome here.

Hi my name is Vickie and I had gastric bypass with Dr Price on June 9th, 2009. From the time I started my WLS until now a whole 7 weeks post surgery I have lost 55 lbs. I was an insulin dependent diabetic with high blood pressure and high cholestoral. I am no longer taking any meds and I am thrilled. My energy level has doubled and I am finally keeping up with my three boys. More importantly I am investing in myself like I haven't since my first was born 13 years ago. I am at the gym every day for me and not for them. However, they have benefited from it almost as much as I have. I am setting an example that I hope instills in them a healthy lifestyle.
My greatest fear is that I will lapse into my old life and I never want to be there again. That is why I think the support group is so important. We have to stick together and support each other. It is hard to break old habits we can help each other do that. The surgery is just one of the tools.
I also look forward to hearing from others.

I'm new to this and not sure where to begin. My first appointment was in June 2009. I was very impressed by Dr. Price and his staff. I've been to a seminar and to one support group meeting. My insurance requires a 6 month medically monitored diet first. I have 3 more months to go and have only lost about 12-13 lbs. I'm ready to get this over with and started on my new road to health. Is this the easy way out? I don't think so but it seems the only way out. I am still shaky on what to expect and what living a RNY bypass life will be like. How much change? How much additional misery will I expect. There is a fear factor but yet a peace with my decision. It is difficult to know just how much family support I will get. How have most handled the multiple meal menus with the family? How have you been able to cook for everyone else and you eat completly different? They still eat the same and expect the same. I am afraid of failure and not being able to cope with the conflicts. However, I am also ready to get on with a change in my life for myself, my health.
