congrats you seem well prepared... my date is 11/5/13, I'm more concern about the after effects and the pain. I'm not good in pain.
Hi all! I don't get here often as I hang mostly on the VSG boards. Good luck to you all! I had surgery 1/22/13 and am so happy I did.
I had my surgery 9/4 -- about 6 wks out. If you have any questions or concerns or just need some support. I'm behind you!
I've got my vitamins. I've got my wife and parents standing by. I've got three weeks paid leave to heal. I've got my grocery list written for this weekend. I've got my clear liquid, full liquid, and pureed menus posted in the kitchen.
I'm starting to give away clothes. I've already lost 25 lbs since April, and my pants cinched with a belt on the lowest setting make me look like a cast member from "Gangs of New York."
I breezed through my final pre-op checks with the surgeon (Schweitzer at Hopkins); my PCP; and the anesthesiologist.
I am SOOOOO psyched!!!! Let's DO THIS THING!!!!!!
i had surgery oct 1. my husband had sleeve performed in May. He bounce back after 2 days. not me. i am experiencing serious pain. it is not what I expected. I researched and talk with many previous patients. Due to the pain I am questioning my decision to have the surgery.
I had my surgery July 17th 2013 and yes I haze lost 57 pounds but have been very very sick. I was hospitalized 2 times after surgery. The protein is very hard to drink, you may have to shop around for the right one. Definately get the Georges aloe vera water that you can get at a health food store, this helps sooth the stomach. Also, liquid Zinc you should get from your nutrionist, that helps to heal. I have had a very bad experience from all of this and just wish i could feel better. I still am not able to eat much, was on a liquid diet for 2 months because of all my issues I had. It is important to take your vitamins. I was very low on my potassioum when I went in the hospital the 2nd time and they had to give me 4 bags through an IV, and that is very painful. I wish you the best.
Hi,

Hello there,
Im new to the VSG process. Going thru Loma Linda and excited and a lil nervous. I've gone thru so many you tube videos that they all look the same but a few of them mentioned this site as a great resource so here I am. Trying to learn all the helpful tips I can to help me along this journey.
Outside of the natural fear of surgery and complications that could happen there is also my fear of hair loss, excess skin and now Im hearing about ketoisis and flatulence...lol (i know it sounds silly but its a true concern to be at work and letting it rip and I work around patients everday so hey...it is what it is!
My starting weight is 241...Ive started this process a month ago and have only lost 3 pounds. I'm going thru my 3 mos of doctors appointments whi*****ludes counseling sessions with nutritionist, group therapy etc. I've had my endoscopy done already and have about 3 more sessions with my group. I have one more appointment with my nutrioinist and then have to meet with the dietician and therapist before I get a surgery date. I'm praying to have this done before the end of the year because I have such a high deductible I would just hate to start all over again.
Hopefully I will find someone of support that is on a similar path so that we can go thru this journey together!
