2013 gastric sleevers

I had my band on 2009 and after 5 months it eroded and it had to be removed... so sad!!!
I tried to do by myself, crossfit every day, diet but nothing, I gained all back.
I'm thinking about doing the sleeve next year!!
HI! I am a new Sleever too! October 1, 2013. I am 5 weeks out today. I also had the Hernia repair. You are ahead of me on the weight loss as I did not hit 30 down until week 4.
My Nut. said that the slow down is my body adjusting to the rapid weight loss and is not to be discouraged. The weight is still coming off but at a moderate 2-3 lbs a week. Pre-Op I lost 11, week 1 I lost 10, week 2 I lost 4, week 3-4 I was down 5 (over 2 weeks). I am now down 3 more, and finally into the 200's!
I felt the burning, and my dr. said that it was the medicine I take (similar to prilosec) wearing off. Its not uncommon. Either way talk to your doctor, it may be the same.
As this post is over a month old, do you have an update?
I had the lapband done back in 2005 and it didn't work for me as I had liked. I tried again to make it work in 2011 and still no results, but that is me. I know several at work that have had it and done beautifully. I hope the sleeve is a better choice for me.
Congrats on your surgery date....keep me posted on how you do!

Hello how are you? How was the lap band? Did it work at all? I have m surgery 12/2/2013 and I am counting down. I am so excited about this.

Hi, hope you are getting excited!
I had my surgery on October 1, 2013. So far I love it. I was 330 on Sept 15th and 319 day of surgery. At one week I was 309 and at two weeks I was 305. I will not weigh myself until November 1st (one month post-op). That way I don't get discouraged or over zealous.
The post op diet for me was low carb (under 40) and that was it, the Surgeon said my liver looked excellent and was very foldable (they need to lift it to get to the stomach). I was back to work after the first weeks checkup. for a few days it was okay, but a little tired and I wasn't putting in enough of the water so I became constipated, once I bumped my water intake back up I was fine (this took a week and a half). The only side effect or painful part is due to the hernia repair I had that I wasn't expecting. Its under the breast bone area and when I burp or swallow something too large I feel it right there. This has gotten way better over the past few weeks and I now rarely feel it at all. I am 25 days post op (just over 3 weeks). I still have not been cleared to exercise, though I did walk at the pumpkin patch last Saturday slow and level ground. :)
As for Protein drinks they stink, I don't care for any of them except UnJury brand, I love the unflavored I added it to everything. I still do if my protein is low for the day. It doesnt have the icky aftertaste and seems to mix well with anything I've tried so far, even in my Chrystal Lite.
Friend me if you'd like I post a blog weekly with my progress.
Congrats! I am 25 days post op and feeling great. I was back to work in 1 week (could have done sooner, but had to wait until my one week check up). Sounds like you have an amazing supportive family and work. All plus in my book. I was 330 Sept 15th, 319 day of surgery (Oct 1) and at one week check up I was 309 and at 2 weeks was 305! I am not checking again until Nov 1 as that will be my 1 Month Sugerversary! My only issues were: they found I had a hernia when they were in and fixed it :) so that makes my breastbone area sore. Also I am now taking my vitamins and the multi is difficult to take, its a chewable but sooo sweet it turns my stomach. Finding a way to get it in was a challenge, I have now opted to eat half my breakfast take it, then eat the rest, and I take the second one at lunch the same way. :)
How do you feel now? Any challenges?

Good Luck to you....still no surgery date for me yet I meet with my nutrionist this thursday and then will be scheduled for the dietician and psych consult i cant wait to get a surgery date
i'm new here too. i did all the stuff you listed and i'm officially schedule for 11/5/13. im nervous, excited and scared all in one.. i'm more scared of the pain then anything, i hate pain and pain meds usually dont work well for me.
once my procedure is done, i will and can gladly fill you in on it.. i'm been keeping a weight loss journal, i call it my fat chronicles. lol
good luck to you all on our quest for a new life.
