Hi all, My name is Lil and I had a band to sleeve conversion about a week ago (May 13). I have some years under my belt too. I have adult grandchildren and could have great grands but my grand daughter and her husband think caring for a dog and cat is enough for now. I'm also having trouble finding my way around this board and actually the whole site. I definitely think it's worth pursuing though so let's hang in and get it figured out. I met a women at my surgi center in Mexico who told me there is a very active "over 50" group here but I haven't had any success finding it yet either.
I think we both need a dose of patience. I am new here and find the learning curve to use this site is very steep. Last night I got so frustrated I had to just shut down and walk away. Just be patient and keep clicking and I'm sure we will both find the support we are looking for.
BTW, I had sleeve (VGS) surgery last Monday, May 13. I'm still very excited about my decision and my future. If I can share any of my limited experience with you just ask away. I am a nurse practitioner (internal medicine) so perhaps I have a slightly different perspective than some others do.

Hi! I'm 26 and I'm going to have surgery this summer. Early this summer hopefully :) I still have a few things to do for insurance approval but I'm getting closer. I'm new to OH, too.
I'm getting all of my referrals i have all but one so hopefully i will get it on monday. Not sure on how long it going to take for my insurance to approve it . My doctor stated it could take up to 3 weeks for them to approve it so hopefully my doc can get the ball rolling.Yes i do have family and friends will be their to help me .How about u?
how far are you "in the process" of getting to surgery? have you had any problems with your insurance? do you have family that you live with who's going to be going through all this with you?
wow, that's great! i can't wait until i get some of that energy. i'm so ready to get this surgery. i have other medical conditions that can't be fixed until i lose weight and i can't exercise at all. just being on my feet for 5-10 min is excruciatingly painful. i'm ready to start the climb out of this pit i'm in. by the way, how do i put my "signature" on so my weight ticker thing will show? i tried to follow what the website said but i can't find it. what kind of diet are you on right now? thanks!!!
