2013 gastric sleevers
Sleeved on July 29, 2013! Anyone else start out with a low bmi?
Hi - I'm new to the forum. I had my surgery on Oct. 21st & have only lost 20 lbs. My pre-op bmi was 30; but I, too was sick to death of losing only to regain - over & over, again. So, I'm 5 1/2 weeks out & not doing very well with solid foods, yet. I'm also having problems with just trying to get enough water daily. The best thing I've done is to buy a ninja blender. I mix 1 cup of frozen fruit, a small amount of frozen spinach, 1 cup of apple juice & 3 large scoops of unflavored protein powder. I blend that into a smoothie & it takes me 2-3 hours to drink it. It tastes great (you can't taste the spinach) and is filling. It's very disappointing only having lost 20 lbs & wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Oh - I also get very tired. Please let me know if any of you have experienced what I'm feeling! Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiviin!!
I think it sounds like you are losing a good amount. Lower starting BMI patients seem to lose at a slower rate. But if you went by percentage it would be about the same as those with a higher starting BMI. At least that's what I've noticed on the forums. You may want to check with your surgeon about being tired, seems like I felt pretty much back to normal after 3 or 4 weeks. It could be you are low on some vitamins or protein maybe. Good luck!
