September Sleeves...and friends

So I had my surgery yesterday. Also had a hernia repair. That was a surprise to me. Lots of pain mainly in the chest but now moving down to the abdomen. EkG checked out fine. I was groggy all of yesterday. Doing better today. The surgical team was pushing for my discharge today but I opted to stay another night. Its 100 miles to home and I am not sure I could comfortably make the trip. Lots of walking and sipping. Met with occupational therapy and they were impressed with my progress. All in all it could be worse. I have only had water, tea, coffee, a very tiny bite of sugar free jello (Ouch!). Lots of meds.
Hi Alibye I had my sleeve done on the 8th I'm progressing. I'm drinking about 30 oz of water, the only pain I'm in is gas in my shoulder and in my belly, I'm walking passing gas tmi sorry but its true when you have surgery, and the pain of my muscles when I stand up and gravity pulls my belly down. I'm so happy with my decision would do it all again in a heartbeat I'm down 13 pounds woohoo
Hi everyone! I will have my RNY on the 24th. My surgeon isn't requiring a pre surgery liquid diet, until the day before, then it is clear liquids only for 24 hours.
i am practicing sipping water every day, and taking vitamins to get ready. I also have been exercising 5 times a week for the last 4 months doing water aerobics, but with winter coming, that program is coming to a close, so I will have to transition.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone, and to getting started on our journey to a new life together!

Hi everyone!
I figured it might be good to say hi and introduce myself. I am a 53 year old woman. My current weight is 260. I have the RNY surgery scheduled for the 24th, and I have gotten through all of the protesting and appointments, so I am cleared to go. This is an exciting journey we are undertaking. Exciting and kind of scary too. I don't know what life afterward will really be like, but I am getting myself ready for it.
i have been exercising 5 days a week in water aerobics and really really enjoy it, but with winter coming, I will need to transfer somewhere indoors for the cold months.
Right now I have a bit of a headache because I am coming off of caffeine prior to surgery, and am also trying to learn to sip 64 ounces of water every day. I found having a sippy cup with a larger hole in it keeps me from gulping my water.
Do any of you have any ideas or helpful tips for getting ready for surgery, thing to get for the hospital, and for arrival back home after surgery?
we still need to locate and purchase the vitamins and protein. So any thoughts there would be terrific.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone, and hope you will join in so we can help each other through our journeys!

Congrats on your date! I've only heard it's about the liver and making room...I guess every program is different
So my surgery is scheduled for the 18th. I keep reading about everyone else doing a liquid diet in the 2 weeks prior. Mine is a low calorie but it isn't liquid. Is there a specific reason for the liquid diet other than shrinking the liver?
