Topic: 2008 WALK FROM OBESITY - Tampa Bay
In cities across the United States, individuals affected by obesity, along with family and friends of those affected, healthcare professionals and many others will come together and proudly walk to raise awareness of the disease of obesity, childhood obesity and morbid obesity in the Annual Walk from Obesity.   This year Palms of Pasadena Hospital's Bariatric Program along with our surgeons will be orchestrating the local event.  We are calling it "Walk from Obesity Healthy Hike and Fitness Healthfair".  We are inviting local vendors, other WL programs and you, our friends, co-workers and family to participate and help.

Our event will take place at the Largo Cultural Center at 105 Central Park Drive, Largo, FL 33779.  We have a shaded trail behind the Largo Library identified and will have a one mile, two mile and three mile path.  Registration will be from 7 - 8am with our walk kicking off at 8 am.   You will have plenty of time after to visit with our various vendors participating with our fitness health fair.  Palms will be checking blood sugars.

Please visit www.walkfromobesity.com and click on "Join a Walk".  The registration fee is $25.00 per person to participate in the Walk.  The fee includes your event registration and one official Walk from Obesity T-shirt.  You are also encouraged to ask individuals or companies to sponsor you in the Walk.  Just think, if you ask five friends for a $5 donation, you could walk for free!  If you are unable to participate, you can still make a donation by visiting www.walkfromobesity.com and click on "make a donation" or contact Susan Kay,R.N. at 727-341-7706

The Walk from Obesity is the only event that brings together those who are directly affected by the disease of obesity.  Participating in this event is key to drawing attention to the disease of obesity and the need for treatment and prevention efforts.  The event is fun, a great way to exercise and raises money for a worthwhile cause!

Will "North Pinellas/South Pasco" Have their own Team walking with us?

Thank YOU!!!!!

Wow Mike, You have been busy!!  How is Fatima??  I see you are continuing your support too and that's great mixed with all else you are doing!  Sugar Free got me through the holidays and the only reason I had a small weight gain was due to the fact I stopped taking water pills (presents for kids were more important that that silly prescription...lol)  Once I went back on them I dropped the weight off and have continued heading south with it!!  Definitely with the weight loss there is a lot more energy!  I was in the yard helping with christmas decoractions and also doing a lot more inside as well as all the prep and cooking for the dinner.  It was great to be able to stand for an hour in the kitchen and not have to sit down every 10 minutes cause my back ached!!  Congrats on the new Santa position!! Talk to you later and ooohhhh definitely lighter!! Anne
