I'm sorry to hear of your ongoing pain, but as far as your employment goes...how many people does your family's company employ?  They cannot just fire you for no good reason...there are labor laws and such to protect you...especially if you're on their payroll.  Look into your rights...them holding you 'hostage' from medical care that you need is not right and may be illegal.  Please...keep me (us) posted...

I didnt have too many mood swings before. I have noticed since surgery, it gets worse, almost weekly.
Coming here to these PCOS groups and seeing what other people say though, I dont feel so alone! It really sucks being in pain, and being so moody, but its nice to have someone who understands..

I have had a internal ultra sound every six weeks due to mass amounts of pain off and on for 6 years, no joke.  Everytime it was bad they drugged me up and sent me on my way... And the most recent, the worst the cysts are huge, a few popped  leaving tons of fluid floating around in there..and they are bleeding into themselves and rupture and bleed into the body cavit. So it is still PCOS.
I dont qualify for a few reasons. My job isnt like others, Im hired by the family and they can fire me at anytime without cause. The company just pays me. Its dumb, I know.. Thats why Im at such a loss...
Thank you so much for responding and guiving me great advice! I appreciate it!

Have they done ultrasounds to determine the type of cysts you have?  Maybe it's not polycystic anymore but just regular cysts?  As for the surgery...don't you qualify for FMLA?  It's a federally mandated protected leave of absence...and although it's not paid federally it does protect your job for up to 12 weeks.  Of course you do have to qualify for it with having had more than 1250 hrs worked and have worked for the company for more than 12 months.

You might want to look into the FMLA leave...your surgery would definitely be covered by it.  I just had surgery on my shoulder and I qualified for my leave.

Good luck.

I was on it for 4 years for IR and then a doubled dose for a year before surgery due to becoming diabetic.  I have not taken it since the day before surgery 5.5 years ago.  My fasting glucose & insulin are normal now so both my IR & diabetes have been reversed.

Unfortunately for me Metformin did not help me ovulate.

Good luck.

Im not even sure where to start...
I have had many (other women with PCOS) tell me that as I lose weight I will get better. And that my ovaries will shut down.. Ummm, wrong! It hasnt gotten better, just worse, with every pound I lose I gain more pain.
I have had PCOS since I was very young, diagnosed at age 12 I think. I am now 32, 3 kids and a partial hysterectomy by the time I was 26. I have ovaies and thats it. Why? I dont know, because I was too young to have them removed, or so doc said.
Now I have been on BC pills, had many narcotics and spent a lot of time in the ER, to always be told theres nothing else that can be done.

My question, after finding a GREAT OBGYN who is willing to take my sick ovaries out, she has given me a few choices. She says there is a medication I can take, Im forgetting the name right now, but I have seen it mentioned here many times on the PCOS boards, and she says it is not long term so I cant take it until I go thru my "change" can only take it a short time. Or she can remove my sick ovary and the other if its bad too. Now the catch with surgery, I have a lot of scar tissue from many previous surgeries and adhesions. And she will most likely not be able to go in lap, but have to open me up. I can NOT take time off from work, if I try then I will lose my job. I am the only PCA this family has and they dont have to hold the job, and I have two kids to support.  So what do I do? DO I try the medication? And does it work? Or do I let her try lap, and if she cant that way can I ask her to stop and not do anything?
I really dont want to be in pain, but I have to think about my kids too... I know to some this may sound dumb, not wanting to have surgery cause I need to work, but I do it alone, I dont get support or help from the county... And theres nobody to help..
Im really just lost, and not sure where to go. I feel like the original doc who did my hysto should have taken the ovaries,, I feel like I have been pushed aside for years, to now be in a place where I wont completely benefit from surgery..
Im sorry for complaining, but it would be so nice to hear what other people suggest? Or have experienced? Or anything for that matter!!

Mood swings, never- NOT!

I have PCOS, progesterone is low, issues with depression and a vitamin D deficiency!
I have mood swings but they are well maintained now that I have added lots of D3 to my antidepressants.

I also had an IUD placed in October so that I would not have a surprise baby during our life change. The progesterone has helped too!

Do you tolerate wheat, gluten, modified food starch or yeast well?
Do you often have yeast infections?
Have you been tested for Celiac Disease?
Just some ideas-
I hope your doctor is open to help...it took many years for my mom to be diagnosed. Keep us posted!

Topic: Cyclic Rashes

Hello Cysters

I really don't beleive that this has anything to do with wls, but over the last few years before my cycles I start getting a rash. On my stomach, my breasts, back, and occassionally hips. I can actually gage how bad my cycle will be by how bad the rash is.

I would love to hear any ideas, that I can take to my doc.

Thank You
