ME!! I was very infertile prior to surgery and had gone through 8 years of failed fertility treatments. I was clomid resistant and responded very poorly to injectables. I didn't even really have AF after 10 days of provera. Once I had surgery and lost my weight my fertility GREATLY improved. I was on birth control for my first year (the patch) and at my 1 year was at goal of 140lb and was given the semi ok to ttc by my surgeon. I then stopped the patch and found via temping that I was not only having regular periods but I was ovulating on my own!
At 16 months post op we decided to stop all birth control and immediately got pregnant. I had a healthy pregnancy & baby...she's now 3.5y. My OB did not treat me as a high risk patient since I was able to eat well and was following my surgeons directions in regards to vitamins. The only thing he did do different was with the gestational diabetes testing...instead of the traditional testing he ordered a fasting glucose, I ate a regular meal & then he ordered a 1 hr post prandial (1 hr after eating).
I had the Mirena IUD inserted at 4m post partum and a year later had it removed when DD1 was 1.5y. My doc said that it can take up to 6 months to regulate but we decided to try after my 1st natural period. We were floored to find out that once again I immediately got pregnant. I did have a scare with this one with some slight bleeding for 2 weeks (weeks 6 & 7). Other than that it went well! I had my 2nd healthy daughter 13m ago.
Good luck! I (and my OB as well) truely and firmly believe that had it not been for my WLS that I would have never been a mom.

I always thought maybe I just needed to drink more water, but I am having a hard enough time trying to get in my requirements! LOL...
All the major ones- Atkins, South Beach, Nutrasystems and WW a few times...
I did a Diabetic Diet, Sugar busters, and Grapefruit Diet... Soup Diet, Cottage Cheese and Melon Diet, Cabbage Diet.
Diet Pills like Dexatrim, Alli and Scrips like Adipex and Meridian.
I lost and gained, and gained and gained....
OMG... I thought I was the only one with hairy arms! LOL... I knew facial hair and other areas were issues but always thought my arms hair was so long. I bleach it occasionally. It doesn't bother me when I am tan.
As for my face, I wax every 3 weeks and shave with a personal groomer if anything pops up between then.
Hey Ladies,
My name is Jessica and I have been on this board off and on for 5 years. I FINALLY got approved and had RNY on 12.19.09.
I am newly married and it is my dream to one day have a child. I am patiently waiting and giving myself 18 months. I want to get to goal and be stable.
A month before surgery, my OBGYN put me on NuvaRing. I have been regular since. Every period since surgery (2 so far) have been HORRIBLE! The cramps are ridiculously bad. I can't take my usual Aleve and Vicodin ****tail when the pain comes, so I have got to figure something out.
My emotions are wacky though... oh and my tailbone hurts and I am freezing ALL THE TIME!
Okay that is all my "issues"... anyone else going through this?
The whole hair thing is kinda weird for me at least, it may be normal i don't know.. I'm loosing hair like crazy on my head and then whats weird is I'm growing the whole facial hair i have these black hairs that i have to pluck out, and then on my legs and biniki line there not growing as fast, i used to have to shave them once every other day, now its once a week. and my underarms are growing like my legs used to, its very weird.. my body just really hates me.
I could of gone undiagnosed for years.. i know for at least the last 3-4 years has been pretty bad, the doc might actually think that i might have IBS as well but she never order any tests or a colonoscopy.
I'm hoping that i will be able to have kids in the next 3-6 years. I'm in no rush but i would def like kids in the future so i want to get a hold of this now! I don't really like periods all that much, i don't think anyone does. so when i wasn't having one i was kinda happy although i still had horrible pains. :) but not having one feels like my women hood is gone, the first year was ok but now it just sucks . has anyone else lost libido from this? its basically completely gone. i feel so bad for my boyfriend for it.. he doesn't say anything to me or get mad at me etc but i can tell its affecting him too. I'm actually excited for my ultrasound tomorrow but not excited to drink the 5 glasses of water 1 hour before the ultrasound and not being able to go pee. I'm afraid she's is gonna push down and ill pee myself :P
