And as for freezing all the time... Have your doc check your iron levels. Additional iron and B-complex vitamins helps w iron levels and iron absorbtion!

Hi Brenda - Even when I was on birth control my doctor still prescribed me Metformin.  You should talk to him/her about it if you don't feel comfortable with your current treatment.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

Hi everyone, my name is Jen.  I'm 25 and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18.  I never had regular periods and knew something was definitely wrong when I gained 90 lbs during my freshman year of college.  My eating habits didn't change much - I was still living with my parents - and I was walking around campus a lot.  I went to my gyn who immediately thought to test me for it.  Bloodwork and ultrasound later I was diagnosed.  I'm a pretty classic case - very few periods per year, hirsutism, insulin resistance, etc.  One of my primary reasons for getting the sleeve surgery was to lose weight and hopefully put some of these symptoms into remission.  66 lbs later and I'm hopefully on the way.  My husband and I have been married over 2 years and we can't wait to start a family.  I hope my fertility improves as the weight comes off.  I actually started spotting this week so it may be a sign of my body changing due to the weight loss.  Fingers crossed!  I usually post every few days.

Thanks for starting this group!

Bah - well I'm being honest.  I don't exercise.  Like another poster, I find I am so tired.  And I know - I'll probably have more energy when I exercise but oh well!  LOL  Actually, it is one of my goals to begin a 30 min walk per day.  We'll see...

Hi Brenda

I have a riddle for you: what do they call the person that graduates at the lowest end of their medical class??? Give up? They still call them doctor.

It is SO important for us to be our own best advocates!!! If you don't think your doctor is doing their job FIRE THEM. As you learn about PCOS  You tell Them what you need. Ive been swept under the table more than once in my life. I think as women and especially heavy women we are more likly to be ignored. Your Voice Counts! And Remember, you're amoung your cysters now.

Be Well

Saara

Hi Brenda!

I know the doctor put me on metfomin when my weight kept going up, up, up also around the time we were Tryinc to Conceive...
If you feel like more should get done, they make an appt with your doctor... Just being put on bc doest fix pcos...well nothing really fixes pcos...but you can always talk to your doctor about metformin

best of luck

WAY to many in the medical field are very undereducated regarding PCOS. But to my knowledge they still  have not discovered a cause, but for many wls helps put it in 'remission'.

Vicodin comes in Liquid form. For the first few months you may want to ask your doc for LorTab Elixir. But for the time being maybe crush your vicodin?
