Today is day 4 in the hospital for me...my ride has not been so smooth
The night i had surgery i ended up with internal bleeding and had to get 2 big bags of blood...my bloodpressure was very low, and my heart rate was exstremily high...so it was a scarey night...
Every day is getting better and better for me...i get to start on pureed diet this afternoon, and then i get to go home on Tuesday...so things are getting better

Hi all... I'm realitively new to OH and was just browsing through and found your group.

I had PCOS, but had a full hysterectomy in 2002 due to Adenomyosis. I still deal with the hair on chin and neck though.

I didn't start my cycles until I was 15. Never regular, months in between cycles. My first long facial hairs showed up around 18yrs old.

I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS until after I gave birth to my daughter Jaime when I was 22. I didn't have another cycle after having her for 10 months.  I didn't know it at the time, but I went into menopause... I thought I was going insane!!!  Confused, couldn't make a decision, dizzy (almost but never fainted) and cried often (totally not me!)  I went first to my regular dr thinking something must be seriously wrong.  When they asked when my last cycle was they almost fainted!  My GYN was brought in and they put me on Birth Control and told me I had PCOS (Although no one called it that then..)

Years later in the mid-nineties I found Herbalife Nutritional Program trying (again) to lose weight. After 2 months on Herbalife and for several years while continuing the maintence program I was having regular cycles!  So PCOS is definetly another nutrtional deficiency syndrome.

However, the Adenomyosis reared it's claws and I started heavy bleeding with clotting and extreme pain. After years of testing... and another CAT Scan I was finally told my symptoms were "highly indictive of Adenomyosis".  (Since it can't be actually diagnosed until pathology of the full uterus) I had the full hysterectomy and began HRT (which I'm off now.)

More info than you probably wanted to know... my point being as WLS patients, we know how important nutrition is.  Make sure your using highly soluable full nutrition vitamin supplments and your symtoms my subside some or even entirely!

Best wishes for everyone on their journey for better health and happiness!

Like you my decision was based on my fertility issues.  I had gone through almost 8 yrs of failed treatments when my endo suggested it.  She started treating me for my PCOS, then my IR and later my type II diabetes.  One day she told me 'if by some miracle of God you ever got pregnant you would immediately be high risk due to your diabetes and would go on insulin and you will easily hit the 300s'.  My first thought was 'oh HELL no'.  And it wasn't the diabetes, hypertension, weight gain (although that would SUCK)...it was the fact that she truely didn't think I'd ever get pregnant...and that was my dream...to be a mom.

So that was my drive to have surgery...to have kids.  I'd considered it about a year prior when a friend of mine had surgery but was not only misinformed but also in denial about my own weight.  I didn't think I was heavy enough.  I made the concrete decision to have surgery in March 04 and had surgery that August.

Good luck tomorrow!

Oooh I remember those wonderful feelings! LOL. And the bathroom time, ugh, that was the worst! But once you wake up, make sure you walk, walk walk, and sip sip sip! lol. I was walking 5 minutes after I woke, and was out every half hour around the floor then back to bed!

If  the Dr. won't give you a referral is there a chance you can switch Dr.'s to one who is more WLS friendly? Of course if any of the tests show you have any problems, you can force the referral issue.
Even if you don't have other med problems, the older you get the more likely they are to show up. I didn't have any problems until the last year or so and then my bloodsugar started going up, so I wanted to nip it in the bud! That was just less than a year ago, had surgery in Sept, and my bloodsugars are down to normal again.

Do you take any vitamins at all? you might have your levels checked, some low vitamin levels may account for some of the low sex drive. Please let us know how things go on Friday!

Thanks for the reply,  ya i had very bad acne when i was a teenager and then it went away and i had great sking but since july/august its gotten worse than i had in highschool.. :(   they are huge white pimples, and when poped they turn into big scabs bigger then the pimple, which i never had with my acne in highschool.

as for the rny, i think it is just my doc, everytime i ask they just say they want to go through more tests.  i have to see a nutritionist as well on Friday. Ive already had an ultrasound, sleep study and blood work, i get those results on friday as well i'm gonna ask again for the referral.  i dont have any huge medical probs, my blood pressure is fine, no diabetes, just a high BMI and the PCOS symptoms.

My sex drive is pretty bad we maybe get some in every two months. It's aweful and i feel horribal for my boyfriend.  Maybe they will be able to put me on somthing
