Interesting story!  I'm surprised you were diagnosed so early - many cysters go years without a diagnosis.  Congrats on your upcoming surgery!  Sorry you aren't receiving much support.  I'm a VSG-er and our forum is wonderful.  Maybe you just need to keep looking around or try a different site.  No matter what, you need support!

Good luck!

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

Hi everyone, just wanted to take a minutes to introduce myself. Im Jessica, I was diagnosed with PCOS at a very young age, 14, and the doctors said there was nothing that I could do to help myself. I was put on many different birth controls and metformin. Nothing worked. I started to have the embarrasing facial hair, and body hair when I was about 16.  I have always been a little over weight but nothing majorly to worry about. It was not until I hit my high school years and everything went south, if you know what i mean! I just was settling with myself and kept saying thats the way I was supposed to be. After I had my son in 08 I had only gained 28 pounds, but I couldnt get it back off. I just kept moving up on the scale. For 2 years now I have been fighting the "military" docotrs to help me do something, and their response was to count my calories! OMG seriously thats it, what a waste of appts. I knew that I needed to do that. Well finally Oct 2009 I got a doctor to listen to me, and she recommended the surgery. I had to make a move to El Paso, but as soon as I got here I contacted the surgeon and now Im scheduled for RNY Feb 22! I am so excited. I have been on this site for about 2 months, and have found alot of information, but really NO SUPPORT! Im staying positive and I know it will all be ok!

Ok sorry that was very long and if you read through all of it thank you if not I understand!
Jessica

I am still pre-op (surgery next week!) but have 2 questions about the facial hair with PCOS..........

Did taking biotin make it worse?????

And did your facial hair decrease after weight loss?

I have done laser treatments in the past and plan on doing them again post op but wondering how soon..............

My name is Alice and I am 37.  I don't have a formal diagnosis of PCOS but my identical twin does and I have all the right symptoms (very irregular periods, facial hair, belly fat, borderline insulin resistance).  I was lucky that I had a great gyn/OB who worked with me when I was TTC and with the provera/clomid I was able to conceive 3 times- a miscarriage at 13 weeks and I have a 7 yr old son and 9 yr old son.  I am pre-op scheduled for lap rny next week!

I am glad you started this board because I had a PCOS question that I will post in another blog.

I was diagnosed with PCOS after having some complications getting pregnant in my 20's and having sparse periods since my first period.

I think before we realized that I had PCOS - I must've been given 100 or so pregnancy tests because they were trying to figure out why I wasn't menstruating.

OK - so I'm positive for PCOS.  I had RNY in July of 2007.  I have only lost between 80 and 100 lbs - since we all know how much our weight fluctuates.  I am still considered to be OBESE.  I am now at the mercy of yet another doctor to find out why I can't loose the rest of my OBESITY weight.....  (I already know the answer - PCOS)

Your heavy-est:
how much you weighed at surgery: 309
how much you weigh now: 224
goal weight: 175
Are you happy with where your weight is now? No.

Does anyone have the secret as to how us PCOS'ers are supposed to get to a "healthy" weight?

I just got two around my right eye, popped up outta no where. Grrrrr....  Anyone know if insurance covers these (doubtful) or what it costs to have them removed and how are they removed. I have a couple in under arms, but the two I just got around my eye disturb me.

Topic: Hi Introducing Myself
Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 2007 and have been on Metformin since.  Have wondered for years why even with the diet plans losing weight was sooo difficult for me.  Not to mention all of the other issues.  I am blessed with 2 children thankfully that was only difficult the second time around and even then we were lucky not to have to use treatment to conceive.  My hubby and I met when I was 15 and have been married for 14 years.  In 2008 I had a Endometrial Ablation... THANK YOU god and Dr. Molly for this it has been such a blessing no more irregular and miserable cycles!!  Highly recommend it cysters if you have already had your children.

I starting looking into WLS years ago, but then my son was diagnosed Asperger's an Autism disorder.  So I put off my process until this last fall.  Because of the PCOS I decided that RNY is for me.  Right now I am just waiting to finish the 6 month diet for ins. and to get Upper Gi and Sleep Consult.  My surgery is scheduled for April 12th as long as the insurance follows through.

Would love to hear your stories too!

I honestly Hate these lil bundles of ICK!!  I have a few under my arms that I catch when I shave.  Several on my neck that get irritated by necklaces or collars.  Then the various lil pop up ones anywhere on my friggin body.  I am going to get these things removed.  I am going to talk to the dr.  I have had my fill of them.  I can't do anything about the skin starting to sag but I CAN do something about these aggravating lil boogers.
