I have to say yes, we PCOSers lose slower. I havent lost for some time, But Im also at this time not able to exercise a lot. Due to my last surgery. Anyway I have been told by a few docs that we lose different. I dont know how true it is. But for me, I see it! We have to work harder, I know I have had to anyway..

I don't think that PCOSers loose slower than non PCOSers after surgery...especially the RNY. I lost 100lb in 6 months and then slowed down to loose the remaining 14lb by 1 year post op. How you loose weight has MANY variables...from how much is bypassed (the # of in/cm), to how you eat/exercise...all play a part in how much and how quickly you loose. Of course you can expect to loose more weight if you stick to a protein only diet very early post op than someone who starts out eating mashed potatoes and oatmeal.
Now when it comes to the Lapband I do feel that PCOS plays a role in how much/how quickly weight is lost. On my group on SC many of the lapbanders there are not experiencing weight loss like others who are not PCOS.
For your weight loss you're doing fine. It's completely normal for weight loss to slow or even stall from time to time. It's just your body's way of readjusting. Take some measurements...I bet you're loosing inches instead of pounds right now. Keep up the good work...don't give up!

Today's Topic: Your opinion, Does pcosers have a slower and harder time loosing weight even after wls?
My thoughts are..............I'm not sure.....I'm about a month and week out since surgery and i'm down 33lbs, and the last week i'v only lost about a pound and a half...so i don't know if thats normal, or if i'm doing something wrong............humm....but ya i'm really not sure......

Topic: RE: Mondays Topic.........Going out to eat......
The only card I got was a card stating I had RNY and I can get abstructions. Some resturants accepted this others did not. I went to Golden Corral they didn't. I have also gone to East of Chicago Pizza Buffet and explained it to them. When I first had the surg. I could only eat a few bites and they didn't charge me anything. After I started eating real food, I asked to pay the childs buffet price and they were fine with that. We go out to eat alot for the red hat meetings and most resturants will accept it if they do not have anything I can eat on the menu and they have a senior menu. We went to a mexican resturant lat week for DH birthday (free meal for him) I hade applesauce (a side) and water. We went there before (after surg) and manager said that one time would they let me order off the childs menu (they have had a lot of people use that as an excuse. My favorite place is Subway (have ot been there since surg. I usually get chicken, broc, and maybe some mashed pot. depends on where I go.

I got a card from my dietitian or you can get one for your surgeon
it simply says you had stomach surgery and your stomach can't hold a full adult meal and that you can order from the kids menu or senior menu
however some restaurants will allow it and some don't i guess...have not used it....

Yes, I get dizzy when I bend over and stand up quickly. I am now focusing on standing up slowly, it helps some.
