Topic: All done
Only have a few minutes to post.
Had surgery on Monday, They ended up having to take both ovaries. The left was covered in cysts, the right, was stuck to my bowel. Just my luck. But they got me on the estrogen patch. Hopefully this will help me with any struggles I may have. Doc doesnt think I will have problems, due to what was going on my ovaries werent working right anyway.
They put a stint in my ureter. And removed a lot of adhesions. As they were getting ready to close me they fixed a pubic hernia.
Im recovering slowly. Getting up and doing a lot of walking. Drinking as much as I can.
They are thinking that they may be sending me home tonight.

Topic: Big surgery *tomorrow*
Well my time is here. Tomorrow I go in for my big surgery. I went in two weeks ago and had a scope done. It came back okay. But I had not had a BM for two weeks so they scanned my belly. I'm full of it! Literally! lol. So we fixed that! No problems with my pouch! WOOTWOOT!
Tomorrow they will be opening me on my bikini line. Now there is going to be a lot going on. There will be a gyno, a urologist, and a general surgeon in the room. The neurologist will be on stand by. I have a tendency to have seizures after surgery.. Not good...
Now they will be removing adhesion's after they do something with my ureter, they have to remove my left, and maybe my right ovary, fix my hernias, and tip my bladder back up. Now anything else that needs to be done while they are in there they will try to do.
I, am freaked, honestly, been sick all day! Partly cause of the nerves, the other part is the nasty stuff they made me drink! I dont recover well when Im sedated for a long period of time. So I am nervous... Scared about how I will do after, and about how this will if this will help me in the end. Im so worried about not being able to exercise, and keep my weight stable...
Im trying to stay strong.. I will be bringing my lap top with. And will post as soon as I am with it!
Keep me in your thoughts throughout the day tomorrow!
Thank you!
Amy

Hi my name is Kim. I am 31 years old. I started having PCOS symptoms when I was in middle school and actually had to have two cysts removed when I was in the 8th grade. I was not diagnosed until I was in my late twenties, however. I always knew something was wrong and looking back now, knowing what I know, I can't understand why the doctors didn't pay more attention. I was in and out of the doctor's office and they really started treating me like I was a hypochondriac. Anyway. I have been trying to deal with it since then. My weight and other symptoms have been a constant yo-yo. After first being diagnosed the doctor put me on Metformin which worked well for quite a while. I actually lost about 50# and started feeling better. It was during this time that I met the man that is now my husband. We got married last year and have been thinking about the future and having children. During our dating and ingagement my symptoms and my weight bounced back up. I am currently on 2000mg of Metformin and 150mg of Spironolactone. I went to see a reproductive endocrinologist at the end of last year and he wanted to put me on clomid. My husband and I decided to wait and think about it. In the mean time my husband who is also overweight started researching WLS. One night he woke me up (it was about 2am) and said I found the answer. Of course I was thinking whatever shut up and go to bed...but he said I've been reading about women with PCOS who have had WLS and were able to get pregnant without any medication. He said you have to read what I found. So I did. I have been working on all my testing and stuff for WLS. I am hoping to have the DS this summer.
I'm so glad to have the opportunity to talk to others that really understand. OH and one of the sites my husband found was this one :) So thanks!

This is sorta a repeat post from the VSG board, but I wanted you ladies to see that you CAN be successful with weight loss surgery even if you have PCOS.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26. After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011. My second daughter was born in September 2013. I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs. I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter. The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls. My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

Hello, all! I have many symptoms of PCOS (excessive hair growth, acne, weight, no ovulation or menstruation), and my ob/gyn diagnosed me with PCOS just based on that. He wanted to do an ultrasound of my ovaries, but decided to wait because of my decision to have WLS. He told me that losing weight helps many women with PCOS; I hope it helps me because I do want to have children. He put me on the pill to start my periods, which it did, and my husband and I decided to go off the pill in Feb 2010 to see if we could conceive this year, and since then, I've not had one regular period, only some spotting.
My husband and I have been married for nine years on June 2, 2010. We met in high school and dated for a few years and lived together, too. (fingers wagging ) He works overseas right now and I work at a brokerage firm full-time. I have two little dogs - mini schnauzers - and a black cat. That's where I spend my time and energy when I'm not at work.

Hello lovely ladies! Well my surgery is schedule for May 26th and I can't wait. I have hair popping up in new and unusual places daily, lol. So wierd. Anyway I am hoping that will stop or go away or something. I am still in school and going to take a class online while at home healing. How long were you post ops with RNY down? Anyway take care!
