My PCOS~

I had my first cycle at 9; I knew something was wrong with me. Plus the weight. I had been overweight since about 2nd grade and been dieting since 3rd...I am the smallest~ I have been since 5th grade right now at 36. I bled in college for about 10 months on one week off one week...finally my doctor found a specialist that would look at me pro bono almost...he did a uterine biopsy. He thought it was cancer...it was not...he said it must be PCOS, use BC pills until you get insurance and good luck! Dah!

I am having the opposite right now, spotting-bleeding for a week or more-nothing for a few days, then the cycle starts again...I went from IUD to Ring...we can not officially start TTC for a few more months.

Teresa~
How are your glucose levels? Were you glucose resistant before surgery?
Has you GYN/OB done the simple blood draw to see if you are ovulating?
It is cheaper if they do it instead of infertility doctors.
Are you going to see a reproductive endocrinologist?
I will be thinking about you babe~

I had my first period when I was 9 but then that was it. My mom thought I might have just started early and I would get it again later on. I never was overweight till I turned 13. I started gaining a little weight then and still no periods. I had test after test done and no answers. Finally when I was 18 I had my first pap done and my gyno said she had a feeling I was insulin resistant. I was then diagnosed with that and was put on glucophage. I was on birthcontrol and still got pregnant due to the glucophage. I did not get diagnosed with PCOS till 4 years ago. I was told I did not have it 6 years ago because they did not see any cysts on my overies. The endocrinologist finally told me I did have it 4 years ago. I had surgery in Nov. and my periods are more regular than they were before. When I would have a period before it was never heavy enough to use a pad and now I definately need one. I feel great and I am starting to see a difference in the way I look and I like it.

Be happy with who you are.

I didn't start until I was 17.  I had been over wight since 12.  My gyn thought I had pcos at 18, did ultra sounds, tests ect and checked off the symtoms.  i had 3 at 18 yrs., 2 at 19 yrs and only 1 when i was 20 for 13 years I would have to take medicine just to start.  I lost 76 pounds after my father passed, still on meds, I got preg. after 15 years.  she is 4.  I have now lost 130 and we are trying for another, I have had reg cycles since surg.    Good luck Teresa.

Hi new here (I put my story in the intro section)

When did I find out? 12 yo but not offical diagnosis till Sept 2010 cause Dr.s can be a-holes and think they know everything. You don't know my body or what I do ...like I do.

How did I find out? Only having multiple symptoms, looking it up and self- diagnosing at age 16 cause no Dr. would listen to me till I went to my current GYN (who I started going to 6 months post-op) with a list and said ok, my PCOS is comming back with vengence, even though I never got a true diagnosis. Right then and there after asking a couple questions he put it down. So luckily its now on medical record, oh and my GYN is awesome BTW, lol. And very pro WLS.

Hello, had my first period when i was nine, then nothing till i was thirteen then i started gaining  weight. I had only four periods a year and they lasted like two weeks at a time. I didn't get diagnosed until i was nineteen. I've been on met since 2001. Had my first daughter in 2007 after her birth they put me on bc and i wasn't taking the metformin and still got pregnant. Had my second daught in 2008 they are 13 months apart. I am still on the met and my periods are regular now. I am 31 now.

I never started my period at all. My mom finally took me to the doctor at 17 after some urging from the ladies at Curves because my weight was fluxuating like crazy. I could lose 6 pounds one week, gain back 12 the next. They diagnosed me with PCOS and I've been dealing with it since. I have been through so many doctors who just keep giving up. I think I've found one now who will actually work with me and listen.
