Where is everyone?

When I first started using the OH website, I was really excited about all the PCOS cysters, but now it seems like everyone has dropped off the face of the Earth.  I'm counting down the days to my surgery and looking for advice and tips from fellow cysters.  Hope everyone comes back soon.

Hi Ksallen!
What procedure are you going to be having? Tell me about yourself!

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 28 and it has been a crazy struggle since. I was lap band on June 2nd of this year, and it has changed everything. I'm down 30 lbs, and my PCOS symptoms are beginning to subside. Hopefully by the end of the year I will be pregnant (fingers crossed).

Good luck with your surgery!

I'm scheduled for the DS in November.  It is very nice to meet you and congratualations on your success.  I'll cross my fingers, swing lizards, pray and all that in hopes that you are pregnant soon :)

Hello I am in the middle of a 6 month supervised diet so I can have RNY done. I was diagnosed with insulin resistance at 18 but didn't actually get the diagnosis of PCOS till I was 26. I was fortunate to be able to get pregnant 4 times even though I was told I couldn't. The last 2 surprised us and since obviously no birth control works for me my husband got  a vasectomy. I have 3 beautiful children and that's enough. I asked my doctor if I should expect to lose slower than other people because I have PCOS and he said no, he also said that almost all of my symptoms should decrease right away. I am hoping this is true. Well I am hoping there will be more activity in this group than there has been. I will try and stay active on here as well.

Be happy with who you are.

My opinion?
SO many PCOSers go thru a huge self pity phase.... that when the time comes to get excited and fix everything.... they realize how much hard work it is... and that the pay off for feeling sorry for yourself, harming, and wallowing is greater....

so they fall off the face of the planet.
I've dropped 110lbs almost... I'm still hairy.
I still mood swing.
My belly fat is almost all gone..
and my period is normal.
But I still don't feel like a 100% woman..
and that's with me totally changing diet and exercise..

I can only imagine what someone who doesn't stick to it.. feels.

The way we beat PCOS is the beat the emotional issues that come with it.. the feeling sorry for myself, using it as an excuse, side.

Sometimes it's easy to forget the PCOS so we don't wallow in it. At least I've found that to be the case with me. And now that I'm pregnant I've found that I want to come back and tell all the cysters that it CAN happen for them.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

Sorry I fell off the face of the site...I've been extremely busy with nursing school...I've been full time with no breaks since January!

Anyway I'll be 6 years post op RNY next month. I too am still hairy, but sadly once the hair is there...it won't ever go away unless it's removed via laser or whatnot. My periods I guess could be normal...I'm not sure since I have the Mirena IUD, but when I didn't have the Mirena I was regular and was even able to concieve 2x on the 1st month trying.

Long story short at 6 years post op I'm still down 100lb and a far cry from the woman I was before. I still have a fair amt of abdominal skin/fat, but it's the same as it was at 1 year post op so the only way it's going to go away is by the surgical route.

Good luck with the DS!
