Has anyone ever thought it was a bad idea for you to get  your wls? Yes...My dad thought it was a horriable idea and kept telling me...just do what the nut wants and exercise more...however he has came around but at first it was hard for me to hear he didn't support me
Does your spouse support you? Very much so...Its been hard with his crazy long work hours he was not able to come up to the hospital as much last time, and some of my family members have called and yelled at him...but it was my choice to tell him to stay home and rest i had mom there...i was never alone...he would put in 12-hour days...going on 13 days straight and he wo uld have a 45 min drive to the hospital just wasn't worth him falling alseep or anything.....but he is very supported...and i love him for that
Do you go to support groups? I have only went to 1 support group i'm going to start going back again next month...it was very nice...got lots of great info, just like i do on this webpage!

Do you all have support outside this webpage? Yes, my family and friends are amazing.

Has anyone ever thought it was a bad idea for you to get  your wls?
At first, a lot of family and friends (including hubby) were very wary.  They weren't educated on it and we nervous for my safety.  I brought my parents and hubby to several pre-op appointments and by the time of surgery, they were all 100% behind my decision.

Does your spouse support you?
More than I can put into words.  He was with me every minute making sure I was getting my fluids in and walking during the first few days.  He pureed my food for me and gets me out exercising when I don't want to.  He is always showering me with compliments and makes me feel sexy through this whole ordeal.

Do you go to support groups?
Yes, I attend my doctor's once per month group, but I'd like to find one that meets more often.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

Yes I know several people who have had the surgery, one of our very best friends had it done a year and a half ago September. I've told only a few people about the surgery but those who have been entrusted with the information have been very supportive.

Has anyone ever thought it was a bad idea for you to get your wls?
Oh yea, my mom has told a lot of people and she has gotten a few negative responses. I don't think I've gotten any but again I've kept my list of those "in the know" very short.

Does your spouse support you?
Like Alice, my husband doesn't have a clue but he does the very best he can.

Do you go to support groups?
There is a support group that I go to but they only meet once a month. However the people there are WONDERFUL and we have an email chain in addition to the group and that is very, very helpful. I have also decided to pursue counseling in conjunction with the WLS because I am a little *scared* of the emotional journey associated with this. Okay let's be honest, I'm a lot scared about it. I've been overweight my entire life and one of my friends who went thru it had been also. She said that losing the weight and having people treat her differently was SCARY and I have a feeling that it could be for me too. I really don't want to fail after going to the extreme of having WLS.

Do you all have support outside this webpage?  I do.  I have the support of my family and friends but at this point they're all used to me.  I also run a support group for cysters on SC.   Lastly I speak for my WLS surgeon monthly (ok...so not yet this year due to my school schedule...I'm in class 36hrs a week!).

Has anyone ever thought it was a bad idea for you to get  your wls?  a few people.  I remember the first thing my FIL said was "why do you want to throw up all time?".  Funny thing is that I can count on one hand how many times I've vomited since surgery 5.5 years ago.

Does your spouse support you?  110%...since day one.

Do you go to support groups?  Not anymore.  I attended support groups monthly for the first year.  I found them very helpful through not only the physical changes but mental ones as well.  Now my main support group is my group on Soulcysters.

Support outside of OH,  yes my family, friends and especially my hubby!
Has anyone thought it was a bad idea, yes my brother and his wife are concerned because they have seen others that have had this surgery totally change who they are on the inside.  My mom is just nervous but she is supportive, one of my best friends doesn't like the surgery but loves me enough to support me through it.
Yes my hubby supports me the most he always is there for me and wants whats best for me.  he even goes to appointments with me when he can.
I haven't started going to support groups yet but most likely will after the surgery.  This website is a great support to me as well!
