Im having surgery on Monday, and I feel like im a total nervous wreck and Im not ready for this. I mean Im ready for the surgery but all the other things in my life are making it so hard. Im worried about my son, and being away from him for the couple days and then not being able to do much with him..and I got to get my house cleaned so its not a total disaster, cause I dont want to leave it for my husband to take it on... my school finals are starting on Sunday, so Im really trying to get those started early..They cancelled my preop appt that I had yesterday and they are trying to fit 2 appts in on Friday because they made a mistake on the paperwork. Ahhhh please tell me it will get better and that Im stressing for nothing....

Also have any of you done a journal of your weightloss and your progress? I was told that this was a great thing to do was to document your surgery and everything after. I was thinking to do it but wanted to get some opinions.

Any last words of advice or encouragement that any of you have for me would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch and Ill keep you guys updated!

Your feelings are completely NORMAL! LOL. Things will get better, things will get done. I have (sorta) kept a journal. I blog on blogspot, I write things down, and have a list of goals I want to accomplish and am marking them off one by one. It is a great way to keep things in perspective. I also had two little girls at home (2 and 3) and things went so well that I didn't really feel like I couldn't do anything, other than lifting them of course! I was only gone one night from home and was back the next afternoon...you know I don't even think they really had time to miss me! LOL.  Best wishes for a swift recovery!!

First, yes I've kept a quasi-journal on my blog. The link is in my siggy. But I only write when I feel like it so it's a little spotty.

Second, it sounds like your nerves are giving you plenty of reasons to back out of your surgery! There are always going to be a million things to do. But you know what? You need to be SELFISH for a little while and not feel bad about it. You need to take care of you before you can take can of anything (or anyone) else!

What I'm trying to say is that wls can be amazingly life-changing and it begins now. Welcome aboard this ride - it's so worth it!

Best luck to you on Monday. We'll be thinking of you.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I had my preop with my surgeon again and also with the surgical dept, and Im all set to go for Monday...it was a long day of labs and paperwork again. Oh just a quick question....Did any of you have to have a liver byopsy? My surgeon said he needed to do one on me and not to worry until he gets the results back! Kinda scary, but just wonderin if that was routine or what. Well Ill be really busy this weekend with family, school, and getting things ready for surgery... this weekend will fly by but oh how I cant wait to start my NEW LIFE!!!! Move on over Im joining the losers bench!
