New to the group

Hi everyone, just wanted to take a minutes to introduce myself. Im Jessica, I was diagnosed with PCOS at a very young age, 14, and the doctors said there was nothing that I could do to help myself. I was put on many different birth controls and metformin. Nothing worked. I started to have the embarrasing facial hair, and body hair when I was about 16.  I have always been a little over weight but nothing majorly to worry about. It was not until I hit my high school years and everything went south, if you know what i mean! I just was settling with myself and kept saying thats the way I was supposed to be. After I had my son in 08 I had only gained 28 pounds, but I couldnt get it back off. I just kept moving up on the scale. For 2 years now I have been fighting the "military" docotrs to help me do something, and their response was to count my calories! OMG seriously thats it, what a waste of appts. I knew that I needed to do that. Well finally Oct 2009 I got a doctor to listen to me, and she recommended the surgery. I had to make a move to El Paso, but as soon as I got here I contacted the surgeon and now Im scheduled for RNY Feb 22! I am so excited. I have been on this site for about 2 months, and have found alot of information, but really NO SUPPORT! Im staying positive and I know it will all be ok!

 Interesting story!  I'm surprised you were diagnosed so early - many cysters go years without a diagnosis.  Congrats on your upcoming surgery!  Sorry you aren't receiving much support.  I'm a VSG-er and our forum is wonderful.  Maybe you just need to keep looking around or try a different site.  No matter what, you need support!

All i can say is WOW sounds like we have a very similarly story!
I was diagnosed also age 14 and got the wonder full nasty facial hair and it got worse all threw high school ugh...and i kept gaining weight all threw high school, i was on bc forever...
Congrats on getting your surgery date!! (whoop, whoop)

Welcome to the group! Nice to meet someone else going thru the same! I know how you feel about the no support, I have been on here for sometime and at first had a hard time finding people who supported and understood! You found a good group here, everyone seems to be very nice! And super supportive!
 You ever need a shoulder to cry on or someone to just vent with Im here, Im a great listener!

Thanks! Im actually a little disappointed in this site now, ever since I joined back in November(I was told this site was great) which for the most part it was but ever since I joined I have only found the upmost arrogant people, on the main board or other groups. I am here for support, I am here to ***** and complain if I need to ( my husband doesnt want to hear me all day so I need to vent some other way). I appreciate your message and I do look forward in hiding out in this group and possibly getting the right kind of support I need! I am also a \great listener! I love to meet other people and chat. If you or anyone else needs a shoulder I will do anything I can to be there! 

Ooooh LOL! The arrogant people are thick on here! Thats what ny issue was on the main board. SOmeone actually emailed me, told me my doc was basically dumb because of what pills he had me taking! And that these people knew more because they have learned! The said things to me that scared me half to death! I almost didnt have the surgery due to the people who said those things!  There is nice people! Lots of them, I think they hide out in these small groups! The group under my state seems pretty nice! They have coffee meetings weekly in different areas. Try to join your state forum and see if they are friendly!
 We need support from those who understand, our spouses dont, they havent gone thru it, they dont understand our feelings!
 You have also found a good group here! A lot of nice people!
