I am still pre-op (surgery next week!) but have 2 questions about the facial hair with PCOS..........

Did taking biotin make it worse?????

And did your facial hair decrease after weight loss?

I have done laser treatments in the past and plan on doing them again post op but wondering how soon..............

I'm not taking biotin so I don't know that answer, but the weight loss has not yet helped with the hair growth.  I still weigh 250 so maybe it will get better once I'm a lighter.  My hormones have been so crazy since surgery there was actually a time when the hair growth was worse and i was having to shave every day.  That lasted for a couple of weeks.  I also have had non-stop spotting for 3 weeks....but I'm sure it will all work itself out.

I started at 324lbs and a size 26.  After losing 100 lbs, I became pregnant with my first daughter, who was born in March 2011.  My second daughter was born in September 2013.  I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and now hover around 160lbs.  I would like to get back to the 140lbs before I became pregnant with my second daughter.  The sleeve literally gave me LIFE - two beautiful, healthy little girls.  My husband had his VSG with Dr. Marema on 10/1/2012 and is on his weight loss journey, currently down 90lbs.

Thanks Jen

I am not planning on taking biotin since I heard that it doesn't prevent hair loss just encourages new hair growth and isn't specific to your head!  And I don't want more facial hair!

Hello Alice

I wish i could answer your question
I don't even know what Biotin is?
The only thing i ever took was spronalacton(sp) for hair and that didn't seem to help me

i just had surgery on the 29th and so far i don't see any change

Good Question though

Biotin is a supplement that is recommended to take to help with the post op hair loss-- but I read that it doesn't prevent hair loss it encourages new growth of hair but that it causes more hair growth everywhere not just where you want it!

My mother and I both take the biotin. It didnt make the hair on my face or anywhere else worse. It doesnt stop the hair from falling out but does encourage it to grow back faster. Now my mom takes it and she grew facial hair, so its different for everyone!
Wish I could help more! Its a try and see kinda thing I think..
