WAY to many in the medical field are very undereducated regarding PCOS. But to my knowledge they still  have not discovered a cause, but for many wls helps put it in 'remission'.

Hi Juanita!  I'm also in California...have you checked out the Cali board?  Anyway I too had a lot of questions about PCOS (Dxed when I was 22 as well) and from the research I've done I've learned that not a lot of docs fully understand what it is...especially how it happens and that they are still researching it.  They are finding a genetic link as many times PCOS runs in families, kinda like diabetes & hypertension do.  Sometimes it seems to be a fluke thing (like me...I'm the only one with it).  Regardless at least you know now and can work on getting it under control.

GL with your surgery next month!  I forget...which one are you having?  I head up a WLS support group for women with PCOS on another website and I've noticed that the women who have the RNY seem to do better than those who've been banded.  In fact there are 2 ladies on there who are in process of getting a revision to RNY.  One lady has already been approved with her insurance (which is rare since many companies are limiting to 1 WLS per lifetime) and is having her revision next month and another is just waiting til her 2 year to begin the process to revision.  I'm 5.5 years post op RNY and am still 90lb down (from a max weight loss of 114lb) with 2 post op babies.

Anyway...GL!

the website is www.soulcysters.net and the thread is located on the diet & exercise buddies forum.  Due to website rules you must have 25 posts to access any of the buddy forms.  The group is called WLS Divas.
