Pcos Support
WE MADE IT TO 50!!!
Hola,
My name is Kirstin and I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I have known I've had PCOS for about 20 years... I found out a little before I got married. It's kind of wierd that it turned out this way because I always had this strange feeling that I would never have children. Well that sort of turned out to be true. We went all the way to IVF and although we got pregnant we had an ectopic pregnancy and then a miscarriage so that was a bust. But, it was the road that led us to adoption for which I am eternally grateful... so if any of you are struggling with the IF aspect of this lovely condition and need to vent or ask questions or whatever, you can talk to me! I've been thru it ALL!!!
I have not had any problems with cysts for many years, probably 13 or so... I had three surgeries to remove cysts in rapid succession starting in '94 and the last was probably in '97... I had to educate my doctor when metformin was the new thing... so I've been using it for a very long time and I've been on a pretty even keel except for this darned weight issue...
Anyway I've been reading a few things about gals having a ton of problems with the PCOS following WLS and that started freaking me out a little and then I realized I could always get a hyserectomy if that happened to me but obviously that would be a last resort scenario.
I'm very interested in hearing about how everyone is doing post surgery... and especially if you are having trouble post surgery, were you having trouble before as well??? Or were you doing pretty good before???
My surgery is scheduled for March 23rd... getting closer, starting to feel more real! I'm very excited but of course a little frightened too!
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Kirstin
