It is really good & goes down real easy. I am doing well, I am finding it getting a little easier to get protein in without shakes. I got really tired of them after surgery and was basically choking them down. Trying different foods with high protein is great. I have been making chili now and can tolerate well. I make with turkey burger which is ground very fine or burger which I grind finer once it is cooked as it goes down better that way. I had a very tiny chicken thigh for dinner tonight. Had no room left after eating it for the cauliflower we made to go with so I am going to have some for snack tonight as I love cauliflower and have not had any in ages. It is very mushy so I don't think it will give me any trouble and I have done a little cooked broccoli & it went down okay. I am amazed at how little we can eat. So weird, I get overwhelmed when to look at a normal persons plate of food, it looks like so much food. I have eaten too fast a couple of times so was able to eat a little too much. It was weird I got all sweaty and felt really weird and uncomfortable. So I learned an important lesson and know to slow down and when to stop to avoid that feeling. I went to a WLS support group at my surgeons office and thought I might try once a week, but I am only going to be abe to make the group once a month. It is more than 20 miles away so I think I am going to talk to them about getting one going close by my house so I can go more often and not have to drive so far. If it is more convenient then I will go more often and will be nice to maybe meet people who live near me and bond so maybe we can help each other out away from the group. We will see as their groups are lead by behaviorists and not sure how they will feel about starting one away from their office, but I think it is a good idea. Hope you are well, looks like you are doing well with your weight loss. Keep up the good work and keep in touch.

Topic: Went to support group was awesome
Thought about not going but I told someone I met on here that had surgery a few days before me and goes to same weight loss clinic that I would go meet them at the group. I am glad I went, talking about things and hearing others talk about it really helps. Head hunger never goes away and is somthing that we must learn to curb. I hope everyone is doing well.
Topic: Hey everyone talk to me
Not sure where everyone has gone that has joined the group but not many posts on this discussion support group. I know the other part can be fun to look at but I thought it would be nice to have a group that was sleeved around the same time to chat with on here. Oh well, I am not feeling so hot lately.
I still have thrush, came home from hospital with it, not lost any weight since last thur so is 1 week and 1 day since my 2 week check up and no weight loss, although I feel like my body is getting a little smaller. Anyway I also have a bladder infec, and sinus infec. Doc gave me antibiotic that shld work on both bladder and sinus, and lozenges for thrush. I am feeling really alone and like crying a lot, possibly depressed or maybe it is from beiall these ailments? I don't miss food, but I still do get some head hunger that makes me feel like I should be eating but all it takes is a couple bites of a low fat soy chip or all bran cracker and no longer want anything to eat. I am going to a weight loss support group at my doc's office on 10-4-11, Grand Health Partners in Grand Rapids, MI has all kinds of support, but I think I might need a mentor also, they assign a mentor to you. Their mentors are ppl who have had WLS and our far out from the surgery and stable and maintaining. My daughter had this surgery but she married and moved to Australia so I miss her terribly, my hubby also had it,but he deals with things diff than I do. I think first thing Mon am also going to call a counselor, as I don't think this has anything to do with the surgery, I was feeling this was before the surgery. I think it is combo of things and alot because my dear sweet daughter has flew the nest and I miss her soooo much it hurts.
Well I hope everyone is doing well and on your journey I hope you meet and succeed your health goals.

Topic: RE: New sleeve - 9/13
Yes, I find it difficult to get it all in, but find that planning and really working at it helps. I find most days I can get the 60 grams of protein the dr wants me to get and sometimes I get a little more. Water is harder, usually get just enough, but many times only get 48 ounces of water because I just can't get it in. Not being hungry is really weird. I have not dropped any weight on scale since my two week appt which was a week ago, at first I was freaking out, but my clothes keep getting looser and I realized that many times it takes the scale time to catch up to the weight we are losing because the weight seems to come off faster than your body can keep up so am not worried about it. There is no way I can't be losing weight on the litte bit of food I have been eating. The not being hungry is very weird, not needing to have to eat and that ravenous hungry feeling that you got when you had not eaten for 3-4 hours is no longer there. I am basically forcing the stuff down now to get enough protein. I want to stop after couple bites, but I know I won't get protein in if I do so I keep eating until I get it in and most times it can take 45 min to an hour to get it down. The protein shakes go down easy only takes about 1/2 hour to get in. Had lots of issue with constipation, but I got it flowing and now last 2 days nothing, that is frustrating to me. I don't feel regular unless I go every day. Milk of magnesia helped, but is horrible. I got thrush in hospital and did not go away when I went home so had to get more meds and when they were gone I still have it so am on meds again. I also have a bladder infection and sinus infection and am on antibiotics for that. Hope fully will be feeling better soon. Good luck to you and keep drinking and trying to get in your protein.
Topic: New sleeve - 9/13
Hi everyone,
I had my sleeve done on 9/13....so far it's going pretty good except I'm still having trouble with nausea certain times of the day, mostly afternoons. It's so hard to eat the amount of protein and keep up the fluids that the doctor wants when you are never hungry...this is a such a new feeling for me. :) Anyone else dealing with this?
Topic: Good high preotein recipes if on mushies
1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese 1 green onion chopped fine or use the dry bottled spice chive onion
1-2 tbs lowfat milk salt and pepper and I added a little margarine. Put all this in blender til smooth.
Bake your small potato or microwave or boil, remove skin then mash up and pour above mixture on top. I love baked potato's and this is like having one with sour cream on top. Has 19 grams protein.
3/4 cup cottage cheese 1/4 cup spaghetti sauce or marinara 1/4 tsp oregano and 1/4 tsp basil
2 egg whites. Mix together and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. This reminds me of lasagna. Flavor is good, but is mushy so goes down good. Has 28 grams of protein.
I could only eat half of each of the above so I save the other half for later because then I have a syntax nectar protein shake with skim milk and 1/3 cup of powdered milk which gives you 39 grams of protein, that way I am getting enough, in between I like a little crunch so I tried these fiber crackers the nutritionist told us about.
I thought head hunger was gone, but it rouses it's ugly head still and makes you feel like you need to eat when your not hungry or anything. I wish I could kill it, but it is part of reason why I'm here I need help am powerless to this and must admit I can not control it and with god, this surgery, supportive ppl I meet, support groups, mentors, and physician's help I can get through it and battle it and be victorious. One day at a time.

Whoooo, hoooooo it is getting closer isn't it You're going to do great! How does your doc deal with post-surgery. Ours did the operation, then we went to ICU for the night, then home the next morning after the ever-so-lovely barium swallow test (BLECH!!!!!) (okay, I found the emoticons and am having a blast excuse me )
This weekend, keep busy and don't stress. It's going to be great!!!!!
{{{{{HUGSSSS}}}}}} I'll be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers!
