Liquid Diet July 11, 2010 12:06 am Well, my surgery is only 2 days away now and I don't know if I am wxcited or a little nervous. I wish I could say that I have been totally honest with the pre-op diet, but I have eaten a few things along the way. Nothing high carb or sweets, just some meat on a few occassions. The funny thing is that after I did it I felt guilty and it didn't really taste as good as I had anticipated. I have lost over 16 poounds and I hope my liver is looking good for my surgical team.

Pre-op Liquid Diet: Day 5 July 4, 2010 8:16 am Well I have almost survived the July 4th holiday without cheating. I had lunch with my family at the in-laws and my 3 1/2 didn't quite understand why I wasn't eating a burger with him. I will admit it was tempting to just eat some of the meat, but I overcame and I am still alive. I really want to be in the best shape possible for my surgery, so my recovery will go well. It is a daily challenge, but I am tougher than food and determined to be healthy.

Personal Development - The Donkey... July 3, 2010 1:08 am I found this on another group's blog. I hope it helps someone.
Be the first to leave a comment.Personal Development The Donkey In The Well Story Here's a favorite motivational story. It's been around the Internet for awhile and I don't know the author. There's a good message here . . . One day a farmer´s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn´t worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone´s amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer´s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off. Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well, is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step upward!
Pre-op Liquid Diet Day 3 July 2, 2010 3:06 am Day 3
Be the first to leave a comment.I think I may live through this diet. I spoke to my doctor and I was relieved to find out that I can not only have 3-5 meal replacement shakes a day, but also anything that is considered a clear liquid. Sugar-Free Jello is now my new best friend.
Liquid Diet
July 1, 2010 3:20 am I am now on day 2 of my pre-op liquid diet and I think I am going to live to tell about it. I'm not saying it's easy, but with my loving wife there to support me I know I will be successful.
