Topic: RE: Frustrated and blue and seriously need to toughen up
Thx so much for your support - I'm a week away from it all now - but stupidly the thought of sorting it out is still upsetting. However, I do have a better perspective on it now, and know what I need to do. I don't really want to leave the practise for the kids and various other reasons - however his wife is also a doctor at the practise, I will ask to speak to her, and ask her outright her feelings on the subject and unless she can totally make me feel secure about it, then I will change practises.
I've just gotta work up the courage to do it, which sounds really weak, but hey ho, confrontation is never fun.
Again thank you all for the support, it does make a difference to talk it through with people who know how you feel.

Topic: RE: Awesome recipe!!!
Hey Paul,
I just created a special Recipe thread with you in mind! I didn't want these to end up on another page over time-so I put a sticky up at the very top of the threads.
Feel free to put all your great stuff in there. This way all of us folks can enjoy them and add our's too. Plus-it will make it easier for the newbies to find it too!!
Thanks again for this YUMMY stuff!!
Cheers,
T

Topic: Recipes!
Hi all,
Since we are starting to get some really FABULOUS recipes-I though I would created a "sticky" thread. That means the thread will stay right here at the top-so we can all find it easily.
After you have WLS-good recipes become really precious to you!
So-enjoy and I will look forward to coming to this thread to see what I can try out!!
Cheers!

A friend gave me this:
3 crushed cloves garlic
2 chopped rashers bacon
1 medium onion
Fry in a little oil until onion soft
Add 1 lb minced lamb or beef, brown, then add
3 Tsp balsamic vinegar or sherry
6 Tsp red lentils
6 Tsp water
1 tin chopped tomatoes
Cook for 20 minutes
I also added a tin of baked beans and grated cheese on top.
I'll bet this would taste good made with chicken or chick peas for the vegetarians.
This made over 10 portions for me . I've eaten them all this week!

LOL! Thanks for the note Amy!
It is VERY different from UK to US. I moved here a year ago and am learning quickly. I have taken lots of notes and just sort of fumble my way through.
I DO love that we have each other here-because it is indeed-"hush hush" in many places about having such a surgery!!
Thanks for being here!!!

Topic: RE: Tell us about you!
Hi Amy!
I am sorry I somehow missed this post! It looks like somehow it got into the middle of the thread-rather than new! Ugh!!
You and I have lots in common I think. I just read your other post about the doctor you are dealing with and your feelings about it.
I am 5'5 and started out at about 380 lbs. I was wearing a size that was VERY difficult to get in the US. My hips were under stress and my knees were really awful. I also did not have high blood pressure-luckily!
I would love to get to know you a bit better and hear more about what you are up to.
The first year is REALLY full of change and such emotions. YES-its true-you going to be SLIM!! Time to start practicing!!
Hugs and welcome!

Hi!
I am SO sorry you have to deal with this craziness!! There is NO excuse for such behaviour!
I certainly understand being very shy when it comes to talking to the docs about my needs. I also had a VERY difficult time with speaking up and would go home in tears.
I moved to England a year ago and knew I had to REALLY tackle this issue in a new way. I research EVERYTHING I talk to my GP about. When I come to her-I have a list-with references on the Internet. LOL!
One of two things has to happen for your own well-being. Get a new GP-and as the others have said--you absolutely can change GPs. Or-decide that he is just ABSOLUTELY uninformed and ignorant of your needs. It sounds terrible-but it is clear.
I think there is a difference between the GPs that just aren't' experienced with WLS and those that take "issue" or have other PERSONAL ideas about it. It is the second group that worries me the most and I believe we need to stay clear of those.
It's business when you go to your GP. It's your body-it needs something. If you can make a list-if you need help or support prior to your appts-please feel free to come here. I am SURE many folks here could help you sort out what you want to cover.
Hang in there. YOU Deserve much more than this!!
Hugs,
T

That's fantastic! I am jealous! I would have loved to be able to meet up with people more when I was in the losing stages.
