Topic: RE: My 30 day excercise plan
My plan is very similar to the c25k plan - only a lot less harsh.  I looked at that plan after I started my first day and thought in comparison it would've had me on my knees.  I've just completed day 5 of my plan, and halfway through was wondering why I thought I could do this (!!!), but I successfully completed the task and went home proud and its that feeling that will keep me going back.

For anyone who is even vaguely interested here is a link to the plan
running.about.com/od/getstartedwithrunning/a/quickstartrunni ngguidemonth1.htm
It also has lots of great advice and other links on there.

I can see how the Race for Life would be dispiriting, but from what I can gather you already do lots of walking, and it has to be said, that most of the excercise sites I see really advocate walking and swimming as a form of excercise.

The whole slowing down as we get older - oh my goodness yes - I've been at my current weight many times before, but every time getting back to excercise is harder.  Never before would the thought of running for 1 minute fill me with so much fear, I actually really doubted that I would be able to do it - oh the times are a changing.  Well off for a bath now, to see if I can salvage my aching muscles.

Good for you! Is this like the Couch-to-5k plan people talk about on the main OH board?

I don't really exercise, although i know I should! Not just for weight reasons but for general health! But I am just NOT an exercise person. I am very active but not in a regular structured, exercise way!

Since losing weight i have done the Race for Life a few times ( I power-walk and do it fast enough to overtake slow joggers) but got dispirited as I got slower over the three years. Couldn't understand it ( no difference in preparation as didn't prepare for any of them!) but then realised that when you get to my age, you simply get slower! So the first I ever did (3 years ago) I did in 35 mins, the next was 38 and last year was just over 40 mins! So I stopped! Too dispiriting!

Put ice on your ankles and knees, and then take a hot hot bath.

Congratulations on your exercise plan.  You'll be doing a 10K in NO time!

Topic: My 30 day excercise plan
I used to do a lot of running in my teens, ran at club level and trained nightly. I gave it up for boys, like any good teenager -  and thats when I started putting on weight.  Anyhow, I've always been slightly envious when people say they go running - not because I love it so much, but because it's been so far out of my reach for such a long time. So now that if I've gotta excercise, I've decided why not address that regret.

So I've downloaded a 30 day plan, which takes you from a total beginner unfit non runner - to a 30 min run in 30 days.  I started on Wednesday with 3 sets of 1 in walk 5 mins run, and yesterday was 3 sets of 1 min run 4 min walks. Rest day tomorrow (thank heavens, I ache like buggery), then tomorrow will be 3 X 2 min run 4 mins walk.  Its been ok so far - I was nervous the first day, wasn't even sure I would be able to run for a minute, but I did it, and day 2 was easier.  A 2 min run will be really pushing me, but I kinda love the challenge.  Lets just hope I don't injur my feet/knees/hips in the process!!!

Hi Lisa and welcome!!!

I am SO glad you found us!! We are TRYING to get OH to put our location out where folks can SEE us. Otherwise-it's almost as if they would have to KNOW where we are to ever get to this place!

I am from California. I moved to England over a year ago now. I got married to my hubby and moved here to start a new life with him.

I love it here! I hope you get a chance to visit sometime soon.

Glad to have you around!! Keep posting!

Cheers,
