Wow, you do have a lot going on - sounds like your news of becoming a grandmother is just that bit of fabulous news you could really use right now. You will be one hell of a glamorous granny 
I really hope the rest works out for you, such a shame the job didn't turn out amazing - still, it may well be the chance to change directions like you said. Maybe fate is playing a hand.

Topic: Spa day idea taking off!
So far, Miss Redd, Binty, Jan and me! Reckon 4 is enough to do it?? But more woud be better still!
Will look into things - any ideas welcome! My first suggestions - March time, Hoar Cross Hall near Burton on Trent.
Long way for Jan! You up for that , Jan? Trouble is we have T (Miss Redd) right up in Lancs and Jan at the other end in South Wales!
And it is NOT a cheap option! But you do get your money's worth. We deserve it, don't we??

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Oooooh - I'm up for anything along those lines. You are a woman after my own heart looking for the extra luxury :-) I turn 40 in December and will also be looking to celebrate my weightloss with a spa day as its something I would never have considered when I was bigger. (get me "when" lol), so I don't really mind the cost - I'm sure I can get contributions for my bday.
When the kids are all back to school next week, I will have a little look round as well. And I really don't mind the travel.

Enjoy Alaska, and the part-time working! It's better to tighten the purse strings than be miserable, the only problem that I can see is the regular trips to see the little one. Enjoy!!

When my NHS pension comes out in 3 years the plan is to buy a big touring motorcycle and point it at the sun every day. At the moment that might mean a Suzuki 1250 Bandit, Triumph Sprint 1200 or a BMW 1200. Three years seems such a long time!!

Just looked at map of England - Hoar Cross is just 2 hours 22 mins from Reading according to multi map and everyone else is living further north than i am.
To me it is VERY pricey! Overnighter at weekend is £195. Cheaper mid-week but most of us work.
It was true luxury! Rather over the top in fact but such fun! Could we all save up for that? Or should we look for something cheaper. I don't have the expense of young children etc.. You have an expensive wedding to go to! And Binty has several (??? Binty??) young children. When I had young children, spas were not part of my life!!! No way I could have afforded it!
But a spa DAY as opposed to overnight is a lot cheaper. Just harder to arrange travel.

Busy beyond belief. Still working one day a week. Doing an OU degree. Just been elected Chair of HomeStart - thought that just meant chairing meetings but turns out it basically means to co-ordinate and run the Board of Trustees and do things like organising staff appointments, interviewing staff, supervising sub-committees, being the spokesperson etc.
Also daughter with 2 children, bad back and husband working 12 hours a day has decided to move house. Guess who spent last week in Wales with paint brush and scrubbing brush?
I didn't want a quiet retirement but may have gone too far the other way!
