Topic: My 40th, and surprisingly loving it - piccies included
I'm not fat and forty, I'm fit and forty and 8 1/2 stone lighter.  Woooohoooooo.  I'm now squeezing into the odd size 14 jeans, which feels like nothing short of a miracle.

Me and the family went indoor skydiving yesterday to celebrate my 40th, it was amazing, I'm still buzzing.  I was always a sporty teen, and have really missed it, and getting my fitness and flexibility back is just the most amazing feeling.  I'm determined not to waste it without appreciating it this time round ......... so skydiving it was, didn't fancy chucking my kids out of a plane and I wanted to share my experience with all the family, so indoor seemed like the sensible choice.  We had an absolute blast, it was just so much fun.  Its unbelievable the difference a year makes.

Me at 21st 4lbs (298lbs) earlier this year, and every day of my life involved effort and joint pain.

Now at 12st 8lbs (176lbs) and happy to be doing the things that made me depressed this time last year.  I'll not grow old gracefully.

Wow!  What a wonderful way to celebrate!  And you certainly don't look your age, either!

Happy Birthday to you!!!

Topic: What a week!!!
My 60th birthday, wonderful. But, if I had still weighed 250 lbs and worn size 24 clothes, I would not have enjoyed all this! I would not have enjoyed dressing up (" who does she think she is kidding trying to look good?"), I would have felt uncomfortable eating ("how can that fat woman enjoy quality food? ), I wouldn't have gone for a massage. I hated my body and did nothing which i felt drew attention to it.

What a week! DH knows me so well - everything he planned was absolutely perfect! Here's what we did, luckily we had a couple of "days off" in the middle! Lots of food but it was all "fine dining" food and so not too much and not too heavy.

Two nights in a 5* hotel with luxury spa (St. Davids Hotel in Cardiff to be near the family),
champagne in room on arrival
room filled with flowers (courtesy of son!)
two spa treatments
meal for all extended family and our "best friends" family in the hotel - magnificent food! Very haute cuisine!
Japanese meal for next day lunch, all close family .
actually on my birthday, evening meal for just the two of us in a Michelin starred restaurant - unbelievable, never had food like it before! My first Michelin experience!
2 nights in hotel in central London (near St GIles Circus/Tottenham Court Road)
Ballet at Covent Garden (Royal Opera House)
Dinner served by the ROH before the performance and then dessert in the interval in the ROH wonderful dining room
And finally, the next day, afternoon tea at the Ritz!

And then back down to earth! But only 4lbs heavier and that will go in a couple of days if i take care!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

This isn't just Man 'Flu, it's top quality snot from a 4 inch fire-hose, shivering from the cold whilst lying in a bath of sweat where a hideous Black Death ending would be a relief type of Man 'Flu......

Wowser Paul, you look fab. Its just over 9 months for me too, and isn't it amazing how the journey seems very detailed and long, but yet at the same time feels like yesterday.
I keep trying to mentally compile a list of all the significant ways this has changed my life - buts its too difficult and too deep cos there are soooooo many things, some of them quite profound!!!
Hope your well coming up to the festive period. Christmas is costing me a fortune this year, cos every time I go shopping for presents, I can't resist trying on clothes ..... just to see, and then coming out of the shop cos it all looks so amazing compared to this time last year.

Oh, right! i thought of 3 meanings but not that one!

There just aren't enough of us! I don't know about the VSG people, but many banded people go to the Anne Diamond site, Fathappens. But I just like the way OH is set up! I suppose it is just that i am used to it. Whenever anyone new appears on the main OH baords from the UK, I always invite them over here. But I think they come, see the last post was a week ago and go away again!

I also like this board becuase we are all different surgery types and still get on!!!  The main boards have these ridiculous surgery wars - so stupid and they get so nasty!
