All this hooha about how we don't deal with snow and everyone else does!

Rubbish. Chicago and other US airports REGULARLY close. Charles de Gaulle airport near Paris closed longer than Gatwick and Heathrow. Eurostar was delayed in FRANCE, not England. I know, I was on it! We went full speed in the UK and crawled in France! We got back to London and yes there were queues there, more than in France but it was the FRENCH end causing more than half the problems!

The city roads when we got to London were clear, not so in Brussels or Bruges or Bergen (alliteration accidental - all personal experience not literary licence!).

Over the last two years, I have been in heavy snow in France, Norway and Belgium. They don't clear the pavements! They assume people will have the intelligence to wear boots and walk carefully.

In the US, once the snow has fallen they cope well - but when snow is falling NO-ONE copes! And the Americans have to clear the pavement in front of their own houses!

And we don't have enough snowploughs. But just what are the good citizens going to say if the councils buy expensive new machines to use perhaps once a year? And cut another service to pay for it!

But we whinge and moan!

Get over it, folks! Snow causes problems. Always has and always will!
