Topic: RE: Tell us about you!
Hi Susan, glad you joined - even if we're on life-support at the moment! Kate and I have agreed to post something at least once a month to see if things pick up.
I've just tried the delights of home made almond milk as I can't buy it locally. Great as a drink with valilla and sweeteners, but no substitute for milk in tea or coffee.
Still on the Atkins diet (more or less). Lost half a pound in the last three weeks, but only 14 or 15 pounds to go to target.
I went in for the RNY but my anatomy wouldn't support it. Came off the operating table with a VSG, slower weight loss but none of the malabsorbtion problems. Kate is a bander, so all sorts welcome and catered for!
Glad to have you with us, good luck with the op

Twice in quick succession means I'm a delicate Renaissance Man LOL. I won't be trying the Dukan Diet, seems too extreme to me....

The barium swallow is just to make sure everything is where it should be. I am so far out that I don't really need any medical intervention or monitoring by regular visits so an annual swallow is a just in case measure.
This is the SECOND man flu in the last few months! Should my sympathies be with you or your wife??
Dukon diet is getting bad press. There is a court case in the US brought by the French man who invented it against some doctors who say it is not only a short term fix and will lead to rapid regain but that it is nutritionally dangerous! the docs are sticking to their guns and refuse to say they were wrong about it! So they must be pretty sure, he was ready to accept a retraction but they won't make one!

Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hi everyone,
I am Susan. I am 31 years old and having RNY on 13th July. I am thoroughly enjoying this website and I am delighted that Paul let me know about this group. Looking forward to "meeting" you all over the coming months.

Great news for all of us. Is the barium swallow to ensure that you're not pouching food above the band?
I'm sure no one need to know this (but I'm a sharer!) it's Man 'flu week this week!! I'm doing great impressions of the Bubbly-Snot Monster....
Took a look at the Dukan Diet last week, low fat and low carbohydrate. I've lost half a pound in three weeks with another 15 pounds to go to goal so I'm not willing to give up on real food yet.

Like many UK wls people, I was self pay.
My private doc told me that the NHS would do any emergency surgery I might need post wls but I always assumed all routine things would be at my expense.
Not at all! The NHS has taken me over for everything! Should' I need fills or unfills, my routine annual barium swallow, any other wls related things I might need including repositioning, repair etc..
Long live our wonderful NHS!
So ladies and gents, if you are self pay, when your package ends, see your GP. Get referred like me to your local obesity clinic!

LMAO - I miss this board, only you guys can see the funny side - everyone else sees it as either wallowing in remembered self pity, or patting yourself on the back. We just see the amusing side of how things have a changed. It takes a lot of effort not to be telling people all the time how wonderful it is to lose weight.
