I always appreciate your posts. You have much to offer-indeed! Oh and the 'entertainment' sections are TOTALLY fun! LOL!
Looks like the time is creeping up on you with getting a date and sealing the deal.
As far as changing your eating habits-changing your head..if I could say what I think is KEY to success-I would name both of those. It's a must. If we don't change our relationship with food-we are going to be right back where we were before.
It's a struggle for me still. However-I am lucky enough to have this tool to pick up and use accordingly. It makes a huge difference. Not to mention the "talking doctor". :)
Your contributions at this board mean lots to me!
Peace,
T

For the last few weeks I have been thinking about passing the 2500 miles mark and how it would happen, Would it be on my morning commute, would it be on the way home in the evening, would it be raining ? would I enjoy it etc etc etc.
I was off work on Friday and got a pretty nasty virus on Sunday evening. Meaning that I have been off work all week, Sat just a few short miles away from 2500 Miles, My first big goal.
Then this evening Joby was tweeting away about going for an evening ride, I had just got the Townsend ready for the commute tomorrow and thought, What the hell why not, It will do me the world of good for tomorrow morning.
So off I set Up the slow and painful (for me anyway) hill , On the BEAST that is the Townsend.
Got to the top, Approx 5 mins later Joby appeared (He was quicker than me to be fair but I set of first) and off we went, According to my Sigma we did 5.9 Miles, Max speed for me was 31.59 MPH (more than enough on that bike) and an average of 11mph, The route apart from the middle is really nice with some AMAZING sights (Eh Joby ?)
Here is the elevation data
As we finished the lap I suggested we look at the venue for my newest goal, The Tour De Health (More info to come at the weekend) However the gates were close, We rode along until we parted, I think him for an enjoyable time, He hit his hill home, I hit mine (his was much bigger though)
Got home, Felt really got but bloody warm, Grabbed a drink and went for a shower, It was at this point where I though **** I might have finally done it, Had my shower and check my Sigma and I was right, 2503 Miles I had only gone and bloody done it and never noticed,
The last bike in the world I thought I would be on as I passed 2500 would have been the Townsend but there you go, Joby THANK YOU for tonight mate. BIG TIME
As for the Townsend…..I have a new respect for it.
I think I posted something like this at the start of the new board but as I agree that we need a kick start, I will do another intro.!
Decided I wanted band in Feb 2006 after about 25 yrs of yo-yo dieting. (Figures in my signature line.) Only considered band although i did do all my research into other options - band just felt right for me!
Banded May 23rd 2006. Got to goal (165) at just over a year, just kept on and got to 139 at about 16 months. (Actually those months don't work out - must have been a bit longer from 165 - 139 but I have forgotten!) Looked in mirror and realised looked gaunt and like an old lady so put a few pounds back on.
Have had no complications or problems. Occasional head hunger as we all do but always managed to get it under control. Downwards progress always reasonably steady but with a few stalls and one or two very small gains, all of which were reversed quickly.
Maintaining since January 2008. Generally eat exactly like all the "slim" people around me! That is, eat more or less what I like but not much of it! Need occasional brief diets if I get a bit carried away by the desserts and the alcohol!
Love my band and thank heavens for WLS whatever the type!
Kate
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Sue

I am american and I live here in Sweden. I am getting a gastric bypass in sept and will get my exact date sometime in the beginning of august. I am feeling horribly impatient and feeling like I am letting the "last supper syndrome" get to me on some days. My greatest struggle right now is making this upcoming surgery and new life REAL for myself.
I am always always in the market for new recipes and food ideas. I am vegetarian so tofu ones or veggie ones are best of course :) I am hoping to put a recipe blog together later on. I have changed my own eating habits drastically in the last 5 or so years and I have found whats helped me keep that change as a perma one is that I found many recipes and foods that I enjoyed. I still eat too much of it all though!
Hopefully we can help each other with vitamins etc that are available on this side of the world. Getting stuff shipped from the states is expensive and takes forever.

Things have been VERY quiet on this board-yet we have over 30 members now.
This thread is the Introduction thread.
Please let us know about you. The more we know-the better we can support each other. Add as much information or as little as you are comfortable with. The following are just suggestions on what you might like to share:
In what area do you live?
What brought you to OH?
Where are you in the process of Weight Loss Surgery? (This board is also for non-ops, so if you are not having the surgery-feel free to share here too!!) Are you awaiting surgery? Years past surgery? ETC
What are your areas of greatest struggle currently?
What are your hobbies?
What would be helpful for you here on this UK site as far as support goes? Some folks like to find excercise buddies, others are looking to share recipies and still others just need an ear. How about you?
Anything else you would like to share about your self to help us get to know you better?
Any ideas for threads you would like to see and participate in?
Again-WELCOME to all who have signed up. It's up to us to make this UK forum work-but to do that we must all particpate!
Look forward to hearing from you!
