Hey Suze!!
Great to see you and hear you are doing so well! Yeah-foods and figuring out just what to eat can be a challenge. I still struggle with that. There are days where I will eat the same basic foods because I just cannot think of what else to eat! LOL!
And I have to say that I think that my new homeland has WAY better treats and goodies than America did! LOL! I also am going to have to steer away from all those delicious treats!!
Congrats!!

Like the last poster, i have opted out of the work Christmas meal. I was going to go but it is £28 a head without drink (about $40) and that seems daft when i would only eat about 1/4 of it , if that!
Otherwise, I plan to eat and drink anything and everything I fancy. Just not much of it! That is the joy of maintaining for me. I can go off track for a few weeks and then it takes about 3 or so weeks to get back into my weight comfort zone.
Just like "normal" slim people!!

I have to admit that I just accept defeat at Xmas! IMO it is a time to enjoy and so I do! In fact, I did it even when I was still in the losing phase.
I can't eat the quantity so it doesn't matter all that much! How do nuts work with RNY? For me they are an excellent filler snack.

Declined the invite to the office Christmas lunch this year. Would cost me £18 for a lunch (set Chrsitmas menu) I cannot possibly eat. Luckily I have annual leave booked that day already so don't have to really explain my choice not to attend. Thought it better just to pop out for drinks with colleagues another night instead.
Never realised before how many social situations involve food in a big way!

Hello all, three months post op and doing really well. Have found a few foods that don't agree with me, which is normally not a huge problem. More often than not, I have to remind myself to eat these days!
Christmas will be a huge test though. I can't seem to tolerate turkey breast, something to do with the "stringy" texture I think - just cannot seem to chew it to where my tummy will accept it. Will have to try the dark meat and smother it with gravy - although something in me says that defeats the purpose a bit!
Avoiding the sausage rolls and mince pies is a whole other issue! Any ideas for more suitable festive nibbles? Store brands would be nice, since am not much of a baker or a cook!
Cheers!

Topic: RE: US Shopping - supplements - Customs
I find this an interesting thread. having returned from the US at the end of October, we were amazed by how much more expensive everything was there than on previous visits. The pound has actually dropped in value against the dollar!!
In Nov 08 it was $1.68 to the £, in Oct 09 it is $I.64 to the £. We have seen the $ being almost $2 to the £ in the past. So the pound is buying fewer dollars, not more.
I had planned to buy a good winter coat in the US but in the event it was almost the same price as over here in the UK for the ones I liked so I didn't bother.
For post-wls vits, i recommend good old Boots the Chemist! I use their effervescent range (letting everything go flat before I drink it).

Hello!!
Thank you SO Much for this post!!! I am going to go study up a bit. I REALLY miss some stuff from home!
Oh-and Calcium Citrate chewables-I have found some here in the UK that I LIKE!!! Here is the name:
Nutraceutical Sciences Institute (I obtained via Ebay.co.uk)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Calcium-Citrate-120-Chewable-Tablets_W 0QQitemZ260494369054QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Health_Beauty_Vita mins_Supplements?ha****em3ca6aca11e
1,000 mg per serving-bottles of 120 tablets with Vitamin D3 and Mag . Vanilla Orange flavour. I LOVE them! It took me all this time to find some. I found NO chewables at any of the local shops.
Another find via Ebay.co.uk. Chocolate Protein Pudding. Now-some folks cannot stand the stuff..but I like it and it is filling when I need to feel like I have eaten something healthy but yummy.
Name:
CNP ProDessert Chocolate.
Now if I could just get my Centrum chewables once again! WEEP! I cannot find shop ONE in the UK that has a chewable vitamin which isn't for a teething infant! Argh!
Try Ebay-seriously..it has been a huge help to me.
Thanks again and I will keep adding to this thread and hopefully the others will too!!
VERY helpful!!
Hugs,
Therese
