5th Anniversary
Doing as Paul suggests - just checking in every now and then just in case the board bursts back into life.
5 years ago I was morbidly obese, I was a lazy, inactive lump in dark. dismal,. baggy clothes - size 26+.
Now, and for the past 3 1/2 years, I have been slim, active and energetic! I no longer consider it necessary to do any real training for 5ks and I am about to start training for my first 1/2 marathon in September. And this at aged 60!
I chase my grandchildren and carry the smallest one up Lake District fells. I go up stairs two at a time. And I wear (UK size!) size 12 clothes.
Wls has changed my life. Very possibly prolonged it. And even if I fall under that proverbial bus, the quailty of life I have today is worth every second and every penny of that operation!!

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
It's not the operation costs - they were a one off. It's
* the new clothes (I went totally mad at first, I have clothes in my wardrobe I bought three years ago and they still have labels on them)
* the adventurous holidays (trekking and camping in deserts, quad biking on 1000 ft sand dunes and so on)
* the increased social life
* gym membership
This surgery costs a FORTUNE!!!

Kate your new avatar looks amazing - gorgeous in fact. This wls lark really is fabulous. I rarely come on oh now, partly because my laptop hasn't been working for 6 months, but also because I'm just so much busier these days in the evening. All of a sudden things aren't too much effort.
I'll be having even less time real soon, as I take up my job as a zumba keep fit instructor, who'd have thought it!!!!!

LMAO - I miss this board, only you guys can see the funny side - everyone else sees it as either wallowing in remembered self pity, or patting yourself on the back. We just see the amusing side of how things have a changed. It takes a lot of effort not to be telling people all the time how wonderful it is to lose weight.
