Only waited 38 years!!

Yesterday I bought a pair of 36 inch trousers, a lovely fit.  I had to buy a pair of 38 inch trews in the January Sales in 1973, after leaving the RAF.  It's only taken 38 years to lose that 2 inches!  Haven't lost a single pound for over a month, but my belly keeps shrinking...  Life is very good.

Hurrah for you!  There's nothing like being able to look in the mirror and see the guy you were in 1973.

This site seems to have tapered off;  surely there are more folks in the UK getting wls surgery.

Don't be afraid to come to the main board for company once in a while.

Hi Lynn, nobody here but us chickens.  It's sad, but many Brits aren't joiners.

I'm on the Atkins Board and I read the vsg board occasionally, but there's very little that's appropriate for me.  The xian propaganda on the main board put me off, I'd rather just ignore it.  I see you posting occasionally, and I'll visit the Brit Board every now and again, just in case there's some recovery.  All the best, Paul.

Re: the Xian stuff--I learned who they are and just ignore them.

I have just recently posted more because I have more access to the internet.  I'd moved to the remotest, wettest corner of the usa and don't have web access in my home yet, so have to go out to the library, only have a few hours daily to check in on OH.

Enjoy your new life!!

Lynn, it is a shame if the board dies on us! But I think there are several factors:

Many, many fewer wls ops in the UK

Brits aren't generally good at soul-baring and group therapy and message boards are a bit that way!

As we don't have insurance, we have to either fight the NHS to get our surgery or pay ourselves. It may be that this means that if we end up getting surgery, we are very determined! As many people only post when they have problems, it may be that the determination pays off. By no means all but definitely quite a few of those who post Qs or worries on the lb board are simply poorly educated about wls and expected more than the band can give.

Might be rubbish! But I have been told by one of the most anti-band people on the boards (WasaBB) that UK stats for the band are better than US ones.  Certainly that seems to be the case from my own experience. Of all the UK bandsters I have met, all bar one have been successful and that one lost her band for non-band related causes.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

38 years? No time at all! So now you feel like a mere youngster as you were back then. Let's see - 1973, skin tight trousers with flared bottoms????

Yes!!  and shirts with wild colors and patterns, worn with long hair and muttonchop sideburns!!  But even the UK had jeans in the '70's, so I'm sure all hope isn't lost!

Loon pants were on the horizon!  The only good points about fashion at that time were mini skirts and hot pants!  I've noticed that some of the women in work are now wearing long skirts...even deeper depression looming...

OK, I give up~ what are "LOON Pants"?  Is that a different way of saying "pantaloons"?  What a funny language English is!!

As I remember them, Loon Pants were hipsters with very wide legs from the thighs down.  You took three steps in them before the trousers started to move!
